Has anyone else had issues at the turnstiles with the scanners.
My season ticket and my sons were rejected as they said they had already been used.
I had to go get a physical tickets from the ticket office, queueing for 15 mins to get them, then when I gave them to the turnstile operator mine was refused again.
I kicked off massively so they just said go in!!!
Thinking back I wonder if they are giving out seats at Morrisons in the NWC that are already taken or as Mick Lamb who was in the ticket office said, 'Cheap scanning equipment'.
What really pee'ed me off was the lack of understanding from the turnstile ops about what I was telling them in that its a season ticket so it can't have been used already.
    Either way not good enough.

Not sure if this is still a thing but there were issues a few seasons ago where people would use their season ticket to get in and then pass it through the gates so someone else could use it... not saying you did that but thats probably what the turnstile ops have been told to do, but yeah agree with Mick Lamb, DIY scanning system, probably bought from B&Q from the clearance section

The scanners they use must be really good. in the main stand, on the turnstiles I use there seems to be very little inclination that your ticket has been scanned. No light, no bleep, no nothing just a smile and a tap on the foot pedal to let you in

    Buy cheap buy twice.

The biggest problem seems to me that come 3pm they are still loads of people trying to get in and the lines move slowly.

If their PDA is being held so you can see the screen you will see it turn green when the QR code is authorised.

I haven't had any issues this season with the scanning, I did on one occasion not long after the launch last season but that was an issue with my account not synching with the app properly after an update rather than a problem with the scanning per se.

The one bug bear I do have is that the ticket is not stored on the phone or available in Apple wallet so I can hardly ever access it when I get to the entry queue because 4g availability around VP on matchday is pretty poor. I have a screenshot in my photos so it's not going to prevent me getting in to the ground but that defeats the puropse of the app in the first place.

I had an issue for the Hull Cup game saying that my QR code was invalid and had to go to the ticket office to print a new ticket but got told to go to the collections window and was served in 5 minutes. Can't blame the steward for not letting you in as they'll have been warned about people trying to get in twice on the same season ticket. The club will be aware that there's a chance someone could try and get in on the app then give the physical season ticket to someone else to get in.

Yep it did confuse me when I requested physical season ticket that I was sent a qr code aswell. Oddly enough through the app I was (not sure if still am) able to access season ticket qr codes of all in my friends and family list

My tickets have not been refused so far, however I think the scanning thing is an absolute waste of money. I thought the whole point of bar codes/QR codes was so they didn't have to have 'man' every turnstile? Ironically they now probably employ more staff than ever before. And it's a much slower process, the gap between the counter and the metal bars is too small to scan from distance, so the operator has to physically take your phone off you then hand it back, sometimes after the 2nd or 3rd attempt of scanning. With several thousand people, the time delays accumulate quickly hence the queues

Not sure what the best way forward would be, but my guess is the powers that be will not admit there is a flaw in the system

This does need implementing ASAP. I went to a town match with the Brother-in-law, and it was embarrassing when he forwarded it to my phone and I could tap a link to add it to the apple wallet.. made it so much easier.. instead of just sending image attachments via whatsapp..

Part of having QR codes is so that you can sell online mobile tickets which you wouldn't be able to do without scanning them. Also it makes it easier for the club to monitor numbers in the ground in real time as they should have access to live reports. It should in theory end people entering 2 people on the same ticket.
Long term aim will probably be to add automated turnstiles but as with everything it's a big cost and so they'd have to justify spending money on that over something else.

Sounds like someone's using your QR code and getting in early, hence why it's showing as 'used'.

If you've ever shared your ST card, or a screenshot with the QR code, to social media, group chats, etc, your Season Ticket is then effectively in the hands of someone else, all they need is that QR code and they're in every time.

Or someone that is friends and family is using the wrong one. My mate has mine on his phone and he said he had to double check a couple of times

You could ask them to provide you with replacements with new QR codes if it continues to be a problem and then void the originals.

Not sure what age your son is, but has he ‘shown’ the tickets to a friend?

If I was a turnstile operator, and there was a problem, I would refer you to the Ticket Office, if Turnstile operators let someone in without scanning a ticket, they could be dismissed. The turnstile operators will be people who have little training/little power or authority.

I print it out and use that to prevent them touching my phone after touching a thousand other phones. Especially if its a match like saturday, dont really want to see us do poorly and catch covid or a cold.

There are potentially four versions of your QR codes ...

1 The one in the app on the smartphone of the individual member
2 The one on the ST card if you ordered one
3 The one in the app on the smartphone of the buyer of the ST if bought via Friends & Family
4 The paper version on the email sent out to every member

With four different sources of the QR code, security certainly isn't foolproof!

Are you sure that somebody hasn't inadvertently been given access to one of the electronic versions of the QR code eg copying the club's email?

The QR codes are not identical between the four different versions. Maybe the ticket office can tell you which version(s) of your QR code have been used giving you the problem?

I've got a brilliant idea .... what about individually numbered tickets that you tear out of a book ...?
