This money is a massive lifeline for most clubs and will definitely go along way to stopping teams going into admin. I like the idea of the extra fund too which comes with stipulations of what you can spend it on.
That’s what it’s all about. Making sure every club survives this pandemic. We look closer to getting fans back so this should tide most over. It’s not about what we want or what we need. Let’s use the money as a bonus and continue to work hard to make more and become successful. A lot to ask out of our club I knowInterested Bystander likes this. -

Last week it was the B teams starting in div 2 now it's this.
I said League 1 & 2 acting like mickey mouse clubs in back in April wasn't going to help in the long run and it won't. Expect changes in our league soon.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
I am surprised that the ‘Big Six’ haven’t approached La Liga, Bundesliga, Sire A and tried to form an exclusive continental Super League!
The plan seems tailored to ensure that they retain their status and that no one else can join the ‘Big Six’. So Leicester’s and Everton’s have no chance. -

Did I read correctly that West Ham and Villa have played in more prem games than Man City and are going to granted "special status"? What actually is the big six though, what are the criteria to become one?

What do we make of this.... clearly designed to make the elite even more powerful, but may aid cash flow through the EFL. If its cascaded properly.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
Just heard about it on the BBC news. Could be a lifesaver for some of the lower league clubs but I can see why most of the Premier League clubs don't want to relinquish their hold on the flow of cash that at present passes into their hands, and also why they don't want to see an elite group within the Premier League wielding more power - and kudos, than them.

What's happens to the two teams relegated from the Premier League?
Does the 72 become 74 and potentially more games added to the calendar within the football pyramid or will we see 4 relegated from league 2 or even worse, two relegated from league 2 and no promotion from the non league? -
And what would you want under 23's in League 1 and 2?
The PL clubs are not going to give the EFL 250m for nothing. Please get that in your head.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
The amount of football played in the top division in England really doesn't help us. When there are big European games most of the other leagues where there is less football and hence more flexibility in the schedules will give the teams a week off, especially in Germany which is never an option in England. And for our international team players often go into a world cup or euros with the squad having on average played more games than the other teams.
TBH the one thing I don't like about the proposal is the infrastructure part. IMHO it should include training/medical facilities, That's the big issue I have with the EFL right now is you send a young player to most clubs they may get some first-team minutes but they won't really develop technically and their fitness side will often drop (and god forbid they get any kind of injury)
I really like the change to the playoffs. So often the team that comes through the championship playoff just isn't ready for the PL. The change will set a benchmark for them to achieve if they come through a playoff which involves the 3rd from bottom in the PL it suggests they have the basis to be competitive, rather than being on of those clubs just looking for a season in the PL and then the parachute payment
The changes to loans as well to allow recalls if the manager changes is also a major step. All too often players are loaned to get experience, the manager who signed them then gets sacked and they get frozen out but the club has to leave them rotting in the reserves with the substandard training facilities.
Having the PL sell the EFL rights may also be a plus, its something that happens in the SVOD market a lot. You have this appealing show that people want but rather than just selling that they go 'how about you give us x instead and we will throw in this bundle of other shows'. This extra amount is more than they would get selling these other shows separately and it's down to the power the bigger show brings. There is a really good chance then that the rights will sell for more and each club will get a better cut.
Mind you I really don't know why they are keeping the EFL branding. Just call them the Premier League. Premier League 2, premier league 3 and premier league 4. Would be a much easier sell as the EFL branding makes things confusing (I mean seriously having the 4 tier league being league 2 is just daft)Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse...
