There’s a lot of talk about players coming back to fitness but where exactly would they go? Looking at yesterday’s starting line-up:

Everyone knows we need a big number nine but until one comes along we have Brunker and he’s not good enough. So, starting Doyle and Ball looks our best pairing up front and maybe playing a few games together might turn them into a solid partnership.

Payne is arguably our best player, Reeves might come in but would he be any improvement?

LOB and JOB looked pretty good in midfield – anyone think either of them should be replaced by Akpan or Wright?

Thought Wood looked excellent, for me he deserves to keep his place. Clearly Scannell wasn’t back to full fitness but are any of the possible replacements better than a fully fit Scannell?

For sure, across the defence was where we were weakest yesterday. But I doubt anybody is holding their breath waiting for Chicksen to return. And who else have we got? There used to be a good guy called Kilgallon, wonder what ever happened to him?

I’m not sure yesterday’s starting eleven wasn’t pretty close to our best (oh dear!). But at least yesterday got quite exciting at times and it isn’t often that has happened in 2018. So massive welcome to Hopkin and fingers crossed the results start to come.

Anyone who makes our bench look even remotely like that of a professional football club would do me.

There's no one we have out that I think strengthens our first team at the minute. For no good reason based on what we've seen, a properly for Akpan could make us better but that's it. The rest is about having proper options from the bench.

We need 3-4 quality players in Jan, minimum.

We should try Silke Rahic upfront she's on good money and and needs to start contributing

In january you usually have to pay a nominal fee to get a player winding down his contract or open the chequebook and get a pizza in to get a "quality player".
If(?) City are still struggling can you see edin being helpful?
Think it will be sending some back and getting some more loans in for Hopkin.

Quality, i'm just not seeing it.

If we're struggling, they're going to have to bite the bullet. The cost of going down would be higher

Scannell ain't no wing back that's for sure so he certainly shouldn't be playing that role but the question is would Riley Mellor or Gibson be a better option.

None. Put McGowan at right back. NKP and O'Connor in the middle. Scanell right wing, Payne left.

Gibson isn't ready for this level yet from what I've seen.

I like the sound of that. A proper back 4 with Wood at left back, LOB and JOB in the centre and Ball and Doyle upfront.

Hopkin play 3-5-2 5-3-2 throughout is management career can't see it changing as for Gibson doesn't look any worse than scannell going forward.

As you say cost would be massive. Season tickets down to 8k?

Not sure I could stomach another stint in that league.
