Another for Smallwood. Glad to see Halliday back to his best but he was poor early season

Bobby Pointon has been nominated for L2 young player of the season. Alexander has been nominated for L2 manager of the season.

Bobbys competition is...

George Abbott (Notts County) who is a 19 year old DM who has played wing back and in defence too this season it looks like. But from his defensive role he has 4 goals and 9 assists and Nathan Lowe (Walsall) with 15 goals and 5 assists from 22 L2 games. Pointon with 5 goals and 5 assists so far this season.

Abbott has played by far the most minutes of the 3 with 3,055 L2 minutes this season under his belt (87% of L2 mins played). Pointon is next with 2,107 L2 minutes (56% of L2 mins played). Lowe played 1,828 L2 mins in his loan spell (88% of L2 mins he could have featured in). Given Abbott is in his first proper season of mens football and has put up impressive numbers and played a lot more, i reckon it's probably his.

 

You cannot judge player of the season based on 1 match. Smallwood got my vote, by far the most consistent player of the season and prior to his sending off, played every league game.

People will see how good he has been when he is missed as we have no like for like to cover him. Indeed GA has hinted at a change of formation to make up for his absence.

 

Yeah, let's give it to Smallwood, the Muppet that may have, possibly, fck'd our chances of getting out of this toilet league.

I wouldve given it Smallwood but after the stupid challenge in the middle of the pitch i think he handed it to Halliday again

 

Does a CC loanee who only played 50% of games even qualify ? That’s straw clutching for me , but hey.

 

I was surprised to see Lowe in there too to be honest. But from their old awards, they use the whoscored website for their teams of the seasons and stuff like that, and Lowe is still the 3rd best player in L2 this season on their stats. If he wins it, it's a bit of a slap in the face to the others in my book.

Edit: Probably shouldnt have been that surprised with Lowes inclusion, he's also on the 3 man shortlist for L2 player of the season.

 

Smallwood, Walker, Brad for me.

Cook, Pointon, Sarcevic and Pattison have all been key but missed large chunks of the season.

 

Shortlist for the best player for half a season , but boy are they straw clutching! It should be based on a full season availability , he hasn’t therefore qualified in my book . Are team of the season Walsall because they had a huge gap but have zero form since we tanked em ?.

 

I think the young player award is Lowes then if he's nominated for both. Shame for other young lads.

It is odd, they should have a different category for loanees. It isn’t fair on players who have broke into the 1st team. Needs looking at if a loanee wins.

 

There has to be a minimum game qualifying criteria say 70/ 75% , how can one certify quality if that player hasn’t played for 5 months or so? It’s nuts , I agree .
