Well, I've sat on the fence for a long time, regarding the new owners, preferring to adopt a wait and see approach. Until now that is.

The tipping point for me was this post from @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler which, in my opinion, confirms many of the rumours going around:

I still believe that the owners' model is one which could work. Also, I recognise their investment in the suites, pitch, ticketing system etc., all of which is to the owners' credit.

However, I believe that there is a serious problem with the way that Edin (and Stefan?) are implementing their model and, in particular, the intense micromanagement by at least one of the owners.

It is not too late to turn this around, but the owners need to recognise we have some good people at this Club and, if allowed to, they will be able to help drive the Club forwards. The owners must trust in the staff, take on board their advice, and allow them to get on with their jobs.

I believe we are indeed at a pivotal moment. If Edin/Stefan don't recognise this, and make changes, then it could set the Club back many years.

@king karl@king karl Apologies for starting a new thread, but I thought @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler 's post was so significant, it needed a thread of its own, so it wouldn't get lost elsewhere.

Echoes something James Mason said to me via Twitter about three months ago. If Whaler is saying that then you know there are issues.

2 businessmen buy a business. Find out its not been run very well for a period of time. Decide not to take the opinion of persons that were involved in the running of the business previously - not much to see here.

I've just posted on the James Mason thread, making reference to FC Malaga, whom @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler has used in his comments.

Hope I'm putting two and two together. ...

    https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/la...malagas-dream-turned-nightmare-123024900.html

A fitting comment, if we believe the doom and gloom around VP?

That steady slide into mediocrity continues to the present day. Without a clear direction as to where the club is heading, it comes as no surprise to see them rooted to the bottom of LaLiga. Like a house bought by an ambitious property developer but then abandoned after a few weeks of building work, it’s a shell of what it could be. The owner refuses to sell and this now rundown building is in a similar state to when he first bought it.

Al-Thani’s cost-cutting measures simply haven’t worked. Players are always going to choose a Real Madrid or Barcelona over Malaga, but to be less desirable than anyone else in Spain is some feat. What is Malaga’s strategy and why would you join them? There’s no ambition to challenge the top 10, no desire to produce an academy to farm future players. There’s nothing. It’s a club without a soul and no one seems to care.

Given who @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler is, and his connections with the Club, I make no apologies for starting another thread.

However, I accept that everyone is entitled to their opinion and, indeed as others have pointed out, there is often discontent when new owners of a business make changes. That doesn't change my view that @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler 's comments deserve a thread of their own.

I think this is where a lot of us who are being branded 'ostriches' are coming from. I have to agree that that particular post is worrying (a unique case) but perhaps the circulation of these rumours by every man and his dog (many of whom know nothing) is not particularly helpful at this time. It only seems to be causing a lot of confusion and bad-feeling. When it starts doing something positive, I'll be on board.

There's already a thread for people who want to whinge about the club, and everyone has an opinion and should post it. But adding another thread to highlight one post adds nothing to the forum.

In this instance I don't agree.

@StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam has highlighted the views of a man who has been heavily involved with the club, and has been party to many of the issues and actions that have been heavily debated in the past. It adds a different slant to the debate.

I think we might assume that the advice that is going unheeded is not just any that may have come from the previous owners and employees.
I imagine this extends to "football" people not necessarily connected to our club.
My impression is that Edin needs no advice from anyone, a simple yes is all he demands.

Does make me laugh that Wetherby Whaler is now the good guy for his veiled criticism. When McCall was here first time Roger Owen kept having digs about McCalls management, and then the politically correct do gooders on boy from Brazil then Width of a post were up in arms about him. Similarly there was a row between him and Parkinson over the state of the pitch which eventually Parkinson had to reluctantly apologise which again raised the ire of the fans and the pitchforks were then against Owen.

Not sure what this shows to be honest? A person on a message board doesn’t agree with the decisions being made by the owners of a football club. Granted he has proven previously that he has bit more knowledge of what’s going on behind the scenes than most but once again it’s just a person who doesn’t agree with the decisions.

It’s his opinion. It doesn’t mean we are doomed. People will always disagree and they will always have different opinions on how they can run a club/business. I don’t see why Weatherby Whaler’s comments are any more alarming than anyone else’s?

Because of who he is and his connections with the Club.

Agreed. Its for everyone to decide for themselves how much weight, or not, they place on his comments.

Like I said, I appreciate he is a bit more in the know than most but all he has implied is that he doesn’t like some of the decisions the owners have made. Which isn’t really a big deal considering people will disagree in all walks of life on a range of subjects.
