    This sums up what’s wrong with modern football. That’s a clean as a whistle tackle. He takes the whole of the ball and the forward’s momentum then takes him into the defenders legs. It’s not dangerous, he hasn’t gone through the back of the attacker, he’s gone round him. In any sane world that’s a bloody good piece of defending. Giving a pen for that is nuts IMHO.

    The ref probably doesn't see the touch in real time. People constantly massively underestimate how often referees have to 'guess' in these scenarios. It's not a commonly held virw I know but with the naked eye I think the refs currently do as good a job as is possible.

    Penalty all day long.

    From the camera angle behind it looks like he touches the ball but when you look at it from the front/side he clearly swipes the attackers legs.
