RiP . My teenage years epitomised. Never an inkling of animosity when he joined City direct from Avenue from memory. Always recall his broad Scottish accent.

Sad to hear of this.
Pat was the first keeper I vividly recall from my childhood watching City.
I believe he still kept an interest in City long after he retired.
He used to do turns as a singer in the clubs too.

We had a holiday on the Isle of Bute a few years ago. Self catering accommodation. I was amazed to see a lad kicking a ball around wearing a City shirt. Turns out he was Pat Liney’s grand son. His Dad was a Physio in the Bradford area. From him I discovered that Pat was from the same area as my own Dad.

I can only echo that. I was at St. Clare’s as a young lad and was always “Pat Liney” when we played in the playground or on the field. My first football hero. I know Pat’s lad used to post on C&B and here. Just know your family is in my thoughts.

As others have said, Pat was a constant in my early years of going to VP with my schoolmates.

From what I remember he was not the biggest compared to modern day keepers but a very good goal keeper, and singer by all accounts although I never had the privilege of hearing him.
