Stubbs did well when he came in last season, however, I think he has been very poor this season. Probably missing Crichlow?

 

He was worse than Taylor yesterday, especially his passing. Long pointless balls into the stand.

 

You're right, one of the problems is the unbalanced squad size and frequent chopping and changing of personnel. There's no chance of building an understanding when you're in one minute and out the next. I would put the constant tinkering at the root of why we've been stuck in league 2 so long. Under Jewell, Parky, and Stuart to a degree, you could name 80% of the side on a game day. Not now, the defence changes too regularly and will probably keep changing until GA works out his best combinations. It'll be the same all over the pitch for the foreseeable, so I'm not expecting great results. Over the last 5 years, we've had way too many poor players and unbalanced squads, something I'm pleased GA has recognised and will hopefully address at the earliest opportunity. This lands squarely at the door of an inexperienced CEO who can't say no and allowed this to happen in the first place, and will probably continue to do so until he gets someone in the building who knows what they're doing.

 

Perhaps Peterborough will loan us Crichlow,as he can't get in the team there.

 

Thing is late on in the game he didn't need to do it. I mentioned it on the match thread. Wilson was jumping up and down waving his arms around 20 yds in front of him and he didn’t even look, he was so obsessed with trying to hit a long crossfield wonder ball to the opposite wing

 

Smallwood went mental with him as well after he launched one 10ft over Halliday into the Midland rd.

 

I was impressed with the triangular partnership of Halliday , Gilliard and Pointon in the Swindon and Wrexham games . Fast passing on the deck with desire to attack looked very good.

 

He is currently working on the theory that if you never play your stature grows exponentially and you become world class, as initially tested by Jake Reeves.

 

Without a shadow of a doubt we need a pair of pacy, athletic , 6-4 centre backs who can reasonably dominate forwards . I couldn’t give a flying toss if they can’t spray around 50 yd passes. 20 yards with accuracy will do. Back to basics are required in the bottom two tiers….We ain’t Man City.

 

He looked OK against Man City's kids, but that doesn't tell us much.

He was trying to be some sort of Lge 2 Beckenbauer yesterday.

Maybe he recognised that the players in front of him were getting hurried by the Barrow midfield but his long passing was so far out of range it was embarrassing.

 

And rightly so, although I bet Smallwood couldn't then look him in the eye when he overhit his free kick outside the box straight into touch behind the goal

 

What about Tomkinson, the young lad we signed on loan from Norwich City ?
