An absolute joke of a competition.

It's like they can't admit they totally fecked up by putting U21s in there but carry on regardless.

I agree with you but look at the attendance at the final last season. There is a trip to Wembley and money to be made if successful

will admit i very rarely go to EFL Trophy games but Wednesday away is mouth watering. A very good friend of mine is a Wednesday fan so would love to go there and give them a good spanking.

I wish they’d scrap this competition now too. The attendances for the group games are a joke. No atmosphere and the games are just reserve games.

If we really have to be in it, can’t we just kick out the kids teams and have a normal cup knockout format instead of dragging it out?

…..money the reason no doubt, if the PL academies are funding it.

Never had any time for it even less time once they started messing about with PL academy teams in all honesty if we got to Wembley I simply wouldn’t arsed with it .............I bet some clubs lose money by even staging them

Well, maybe if we don't change 8 of the team. Otherwise it just ends up like a load of lads who've met for the first time on the pitch and are going to have a kick about.

It's worse than a waste of time. It's supporting a format which is opening the door to B teams in the EFL.

Sunderland away was mouth watering on paper and we took about 18 fans.

Any club that loses money can claim the money back from the pot which is made up of the entry fees for the Cat 1 academy sides.
This format was the last option to save the competition and I don't think a lot of clubs would want it to go as it's a good chance to get to wembley then if you get there it will bring in over £1mil across the rounds, it's also a change to give fringe players minutes. They can also provide a platform to look at u23 players who you might be able to get on loan.
The only way I see this competition disappearing is if the academy sides decide it's not worth it then leave.
Last season there was a few games against academy sides which saw higher attendances than against other EFL sides

Thats fair, was a long trip for a dead rubber game in a dead rubber cup on a Tuesday night. Pretty sure we were knocked out at that point. Know its not much but i would have gone if not for attending the boxing day fixture a few years back

Leicester join us in group H.
Looking at their past performances they tend to do well getting to the 3rd round twice and the quarters once. Only twice they've failed to get out of the group so they could be a good challenge for whatever team we put out.
