Draw to take place on Friday after Sunderland vs Birmingham.

    Possible opponents for us are:
    • Everton U21s
    • Bolton Wanderers
    • Port Vale
    • Salford City
    • Lincoln City
    • Man City U21s/Grimsby Town
    • Man Utd U21s
We'll be drawn away unless we are drawn against an U21 side and they've requested to play away which i think Man Utd will do and possibly Everton. Ties to take place W/C 21st November.

Maybe we could fill our blank Saturday due to our dismal FA cup exit with this tie. Man Utd under 23s might attract a decent crowd on a Saturday afternoon.

They can’t draw each other but either Manchester clubs would draw a similar crowd to the Sheffield Wednesday game in round 1. Despite being a crap competition there’s decent prize money in it.

It's a good shout. The u21s are on their World Cup/Christmas break so they have a free calendar. Also out of the other possible opponents Bolton, Lincoln and Port Vale are out with Salford having a replay. Only Grimsby are through to the 2nd round and still have to beat Man City u21s tomorrow make it through.

We'll be in draw A with the 4 possible opponents Everton U21s, Bolton Wanderers, Port Vale and Salford City. The first 3 teams are all without a fixture on Saturday 26th and Salford have a replay on Wednesday so we'll know then if they have a game on the Saturday by then. Can't see a reason why both sides wouldn't want the game on the Saturday as it should attract more fans than a Tuesday night.

Salford wouldn't give a stuff either way. They only have 12 fans.

If Everton u21s away was at Goodison Park I think a few would go over.

Yeah I’d go to that. Anyone know why they can’t play at home? Seems ridiculous that the whole idea of them being in the competition is to gain experience.
It would be great for the kids to play at Goodison Pk in front of a decent crowd.

Don’t Everton have to play away?

You’d think given the premier league break that it would be an obvious opportunity to have them play at home, as they have earned the right to do so.

On a side note, it seems as though under 21s sides CAN be at home.

Man Utd and Wolves u21 are playing each other. And Everton u21s will play at home.

Wonder if there’ll be a mad scramble for Salford tickets again like there was a few weeks ago…

There was no ‘mad scramble’. The fans with most points were able to buy a ticket in their own sweet time with no hassle.
The demand obviously won’t be as high for the PJ trophy so there’s opportunities for others. Let’s see if they take it.
