    I'm just challenging the notion that Leicester 'got lucky' when they won the league. They had some excellent players.

    Kante cost £5.6mill. Vardy £1.7mill and Mahrez £400k. And remember 2 of them where there the season before, 2 of them where there for 2 seasons after and in all those season's they came nowhere near the top of the table. In fact they were closer points wise to the bottom 3 than the top4 by a long way. And sure they did well taking those punts on these players but they took punts on other players that didn't work out, all clubs take punts on players and there really is no guarantee a player will work out, you can spend tens or hundreds of millions and you still don't know if a player will work out

    Firstly I didn't say it was all luck. I said luck and confidence. They got lucky because everyone else was in turmoil and transition which saw the league being blow wide open which gave them a chance. And then they fed on the confidence of both winning and their league position. It's why I said they had the perfect storm which they didn't come close to before or after

    Apologies. They cost less than £7m.
    Of course, there are no guarantees when you sign players. But to buy those three and develop them into superb players isn't lucky.

    If they had spunked £70m, on a dud, you wouldn't say they've been unlucky. You would say they made a bad decision.

    Likewise, when they get it right in a big way, you must say their recruitment was superb.

    Kante and Mahrez go for £100m between them? Vardy would go for £20m in today's market. £7m turned into £120m, a PL title and a CL 1/4 final?
