Never been to Gillingham and the uncovered area always put me off, particularly as it always seems to be pissing down when we play them. I was contemplating driving it, but I went to Sutton and will also be at Orient, so a 3rd 450+ mile round trip in the space of 4 weeks is pushing it a bit

 

It's Gillingham, with a crowd of around 5,000. I can't imagine they need a whole host of extra police drafting in for that one.

 

Not saying they will need a lot but if they leave it later than that the costs sky rocket due to overtime etc for short notice change of shifts

 

I'll inevitably drop my umbrella through the temporary seating again and have to scramble underneath to find it. Just hope it stays dry. Advertising suggests u14s are free which will be great as my daughter qualifies.

 

If they play like yesterday you'll be asleep before half time.

 

Yer they're crap though. You're right at the corner flag and low down. See next to nothing. The uncovered stand is crap but at least being elevated it easier to see to the other end of the pitch.

 

Remember it well. First game of the season I think. We hung on at the end for a win, just.

 

With regards to Gillingham game - KO of quarter final will be 7pm on Dec 10th, assuming of course we beat Senegal. A weekend in Gillingham may actually be on the cards after all lol

 

Gillingham away moved back a day to the Sunday at 1pm as their FA Cup replay is on the Thursday.

This isn't anything to do with the World Cup, this is so they can be on TV for the FA Cup.

I seem to remember we were forced to play Saturday/Monday to have a TV spot in the FA Cup not so long since.

 

This rules out getting back in time for the England game for any fans attempting a day trip.

It will be a huge push to get back and sorted within 4 hours.

Surely a 12 noon kick off would have been better for travelling fans.

That was down to the Tuesday being a Champions League day and at that point UEFA banned any top league/cup matches being on TV at the same time. Only other option we would have had was to move the notts County game to the Friday night then play Saturday, Tuesday, Friday, Monday.

 

I'm certain that this rule seems to be applied and ignored at a whim.
I remember last season questioning why a premier league game was on the TV on the same night as European fixtures.

For example Everton beat Newcastle 1-0 in a fixture on the TV where the just stop oil guy attached himself to the post on the same night as the Europa League fixtures where West Ham beat Seville.

I'm almost certain that Arsenal played Liverpool on TV the day before whilst Chelsea were in the CL.
