    Just seen on Twitter that the club have sent the moderators of one of the many Bradford City Facebook groups a letter threatening them with possible closure due to lack of moderation.





    Not sure what the background is to it but surely the club have better things to do than be getting involved in moderating Facebook groups, or making them change their names to slightly different ones so they are not exactly Bradford City.

    Alternatively maybe they are about to start their own Facebook group up and are clearing the board of others first, a bit like the OMB, one for the old timers.

    That FB group, had a post from someone who knits gollies in City colours. Someone complained and then complained to the club. Not sure if that letter is legit or not.

    Doesn't seem legit to me.

    Surely there's no way a letter like that would be signed 'Bradford City AFC', it would be an actual person at the club?

    Not sure. I wasn;t convinced by the style of letter either but if not someone has put some effort in to get their home address and post it to them whereas the club would have their details from their season ticket. I know there are ways to find peoples addresses but why bother just to scare them.

    I'd write to the club and ask for some clarification.

    I imagine the club would be very concerned with impersonation if the letter isn't genuine.

    Apparently he has rung the club and is waiting for a call back, so they are aware of the letter even if they haven’t sent it

    It wasn't just posting these Dolls, it was posting the crap along with them where the line appears to have been crossed. I wonder if either of these people who say what they are saying on facebook would say it directly to Jamie Lawrence or Stan Collymore.

    It doesn't offend me because it's not directed at me. However when someone of colour posts on twitter that they are disgusted by the casual racism I listen to them because they are the ones who are affected by this.

    It also wouldn't surprise me to see someone escalate it to the club if they made a report on facebook and saw the person who was moderating the site laughing at it and calling you woke or a lefty for complaining (which it appears he has done in his defence of this stance as he falls into another of his famous meltdowns on facebook).

    Sadly Mr Marshall has always had an unseemly presence online.

    He quite enjoyed the way younger posters looked up to him on the OMB and tended to bully or degrade those who didn't. His racist and homophobic tendencies often put him on the wrong side of JP (the webmaster) so it doesn't surprise me it's him who's in hot water again.

    I'd have hoped he would have mellowed in his old age but apparently not.

    I wasn’t aware of the Stan Collymore reference. I think the OP who makes the dolls, is harmless and possibly a bit naive around the narrative these days. Same goes for the bloke who said Stan Gollymore. The original post was asking for names for the dolls. I don’t think there’s any racist intent going on here at all, but I can see how it can get out of hand quickly.

    The narrative around golly dolls has been the same for well over thirty years. Anyone who makes one absolutely knows what the narrative is.
