Surely Lawn and Rhodes would have only benefited if they were still running the club? I'd be very surprised if the sell on clause was to the benefit of individuals.
Besides I've read a few times that people currently at the club have said that money went to the club. And as Stephan is owner he gets to decide how its used.

 

I agree and seeing as Stefan has been as good as his word with regards doing his best to get us back on an even keel, if there are any monies to come in from transfer deals done in the past he should as the owner be the person who receives it.

 

I think most city fans expected that to happen. I dont think too many will complain with that.

 

"Up front" in this sense just means the amount before any add ons. Like a base fee so to speak. It won't be paid in bulk but rather spread out over the length of the contract (as is standard I believe)

I don’t think anyone will have a problem with Stefan taking money back. Looks like he has released some of it for an increase this season. Next year a lot of our most expensive contracts will have run their course. I don’t think Stefan is going anywhere not for some time. He will wait until we have turned a corner and back to where we were, then he might if he gets a good offer.

 

He's good is our Park. I hope next he's going to tell us we aren't selling Akpan, Riley and O'Connor before the end of the transfer window

To be fair fools gold is right. Just because McBurnie had scored goals at junior level means very little in the grand scheme of things. Theres potential there but Swansea and their scouts were the ones that took a calculated risk and put the money on the table. Easy to say in hindsight that he would be a full international playing in the premiership as there was nothing to suggest that under Parkinsons tutorship.

You are bang right mate. When he was with us John Hendrie made the point that physically he was still a "baby", and not ready for first team football. Swansea saw something in him and took him on and also took time developing him through their age groups. They could afford to do that, we couldn't.
As it has worked out everyone now benefits from Swansea's patience and hard work. Swansea, City and McBurnie plus hopefully Chris Wilder and Sheffield Utd.

I manage athletes, and believe me I doubt any of them know their contracts inside out.

One didn't know whether he could walk out of his previous agency agreenent, the contract was only about three pages long with twenty or so clauses, one of which simply stated 'the athlete can terminate this agreement at any time by giving written notice'.
