What the actual happened at Boundary Park after the game? Seems an Oldham player got beaten up in the car park. An uneasy lack of information but rumblings of it being an opposing team member. Strange.

It has been reported that Hallam Hope was assaulted after the game in the car park to such an extent he required hospital attention and is likely to be out of action for several weeks. That news broke in the morning.

Later in the afternoon Chesterfield released a statement saying they are aware of the incident and are helping Manchester police with their enquires regarding an "un-named" Chesterfield player.

The statement points to the fact the assault was actually carried out by one of their playing staff.

Clearly as no one has been reported as being arrested or charged no further details can be given.

All alleged speculation still but the unconfirmed belief amongst Chesterfield fans is that it was Mike Jones, their 35 year old central midfielder who used to play for Oldham. He and Hope had 3 seasons together from 2017 to 2020 together and there is a lot of talk of some previous bad blood between the two from their Carlisle days.
