His attitude is probably why he has spent so much of his career in non league not his footballing ability.

 

His footballing ability is National League. The rest is pretty irrelevant for me.

 

Why is he festering his football skills outside the 4 division……. Isn’t the answer obvious?

He got a 3 year deal at Chesterfield which is great for a 32 year old, on probably more money than he was on at City, certainly not because he’s crap.

 

Back to sitting on the bench in non league at that.

Looking at his history as a professional.footballer that's the level he's been happy at, there may or may not be reasons he never wanted league football, but if as @Captain Grumpy says he's got a 3 year deal on better terms than he had at Valley Parade 3 seasons on the bench might not be a deterrent.
