Sad news.
As I previously posted elsewhere on Bantam Talk, I saw him play in a pre-season friendly, for City, against Swedish side Limmared in 1989.
City had a few minor injury problems, so they were struggling to make up the numbers. The final place on the bench came down to Norman Hunter or me and (for some strange reason) Terry Yorath picked Norman and he got a run out in the second half.
So, for me, Norman Hunter and Bradford City will always be linked together.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Hulmebantam likes this. -

As others on here with better memories than me have said, part of Terry Yorath's coaching team perhaps?. Anyhow somehow his association with us have been erased from my memoryBronco likes this. -
Saw a quite recent (last couple of years) interview with Norman Hunter on YouTube last week. He was looking his age and saying how he regretted a few things in his career, the punch up with Francis Lee at Derby was one of his regrets.
He also said how Don Revie surprised him and two other young players, giving them their debuts away at Swansea. He pulled them to one side an hour and a half before kick off to spring it on them.
The other two debutants were Paul Reaney and ex Bantam captain Rod Johnson. Rod Johnson was covering for the great John Charles, and scored!
Rod Johnson captained City during our FA Cup run to the quarter finals, when we got beaten by the eventual winners Southampton.
Sadly Rod also passed away not so long ago. RIP too Rod.Bronco likes this. -

A 66 world cup winner, but like Greavsie couldn't get a game, RIP.
There is youtube footage of leeds v. chelsea 1970 and the charity shield 1974 leeds v liverpool, proper football!
Is there a game manager where you can put dirty leeds against the likes of suarez, messi, neymar and ronaldo- worth watching.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
Norman was always a very reliable player for Leeds and England, the only blip I can recall whist in the England shirt was against Poland in the qualifying group games, the game Brian Clough called Jan Tomaszewski a clown, Norman went out wide to win what looked like an easy ball and instead of doing his usual (ball and man) he made a right hash of the tackle allowing Gadocha to take the ball forward playing Domarski in who hit a good shot all though Shilton should have saved it, but Norman always blamed himself for that England defeat and England not qualifying.
And yes Tomaszewski the clown played most of that game with a broken wrist when Clarke did him in trying to score, and made some quite unbelievable saves on the night.
