I always liked him when he was here and never understood the grief he got from some fans. Needless to say he would be an upgrade on our current crop of midfielders.

Wan't half as bad as people make out. Heck we got to the playoff final with him playing most of the season, linked up well with Meredith that season. None of other midfielders bar Cullen did much better than him if at all.

I'd have kept him and played him centrally where he looked very good at times. It also wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find out there's little between him and Wright. Certainly not enough to make a difference anyway.

No, I don't think he's a world beater at all. He'd be playing in the PL if he was as good as all that.
But I do think he is a very good player at L1 level and could also do a job in the Championship, if played in his correct position with good players around him to link with, in a team that like to retain possession. He looked much better playing alongside Cullen, Meredith and Clarke than he did last season, because those around him weren't on his wavelength. And he was nowhere under Grayson's prehistoric hoofball.
Of course he has deficits, but what he contributed far outweighed those in my opinion. Obviously many other people had a different opinion.

I wouldn't bet against him being an L1 player next season and BCFC being full of bang average L2 players.

    I agree.

Looks like he might have made a wise move to a team who could win the league and, heaven forbid, swap places with City come May.

Maybe then all the City fans who moaned about him like he was the worst midfielder we had ever had, might just have accept he was a valuable team member in a team that, up until that fateful January, had been in the playoff spots almost constantly for a season and a half.

no surprise from me he scored and was MOTM. he stood out even in just the highlights. he's better than League two.

We've downgraded in pretty much every single position. The transfer committee should all be commended.

Love the comment from their manager

He's going to be a very good player for us going forward

Not sure a lot of City fans would agree with that

If his wages were not prohibitive I would definitely have kept him. Never understood why many City fans disliked him. I thought he was a solid player who rarely lost the ball and had a good pass completion rate. In a central midfield role I think he would be as good if not better than what we have got now. And Jakes always rated him highly and he knows what a good midfielder should look like.

Spot on. Almost never caught in possession, always made time and space on the ball, superb passer at L1 level, linked beautifully with Mezza, Cullen and Billy Clarke, frequently carried the ball forward and got us out of tight spots time after time. All of this as a right footed central midfielder being played out of position wide left most of the time.
On the few occasions he was played in his favourite CM position he ran the game for us.
I'd have given him a new contract, put him in central midfield and built the team around him.

It’s horses for courses S, plus Exeter is a nice part of the world. Not a bad place to end your career I suppose. ?
