    Very happy with this. Will be excellent at League 2 level and he's a boyhood city fan so no question about desire etc.

    6ft 4 so replaces the height we lost from BRE.

    If he was part of that Plymouth side which went up he has to be an upgrade on BRE.

    Has experience and hopefully can be the ‘leader’ type we lack.

    Fee involved - hopefully plenty left for a striker.

    Didn't realise he was a city fan.

    Signing players from higher divisions and paying a fee to get them is generally a good sign. Pretty happy with that,

    Reading the Plymouth fans forum it looks like we've signed a Rory McCardle type player. No nonsense/header/leader/talker. Not great technically, but good for the battles League 2.

    A good addition by all accounts.

    You have a good signing, League Two will suit him.
    He's been in and out of the Argyle team, young loanees from PL teams have been preferred but many Argyle fans rate him as our best defender this season.

    He's probably moved up north to be closer to family.
    He's a leader and for a big centre-back is comfortable on the ball.
    The downside is he has no pace and is slow on the turn and will struggle against pacy strikers.

    Does this mean Derek Adams is about to be named as your new manager?
    Canavan was a favourite of his and he signed him.

    Good luck to him, he'll be missed.
