A terrific article by Jason McKeown today on Width of a Post about the merit of appointing McDonald or otherwise and making sure we are not too hasty in making the appointment without assessing others in the running

It's a long read, but a worthwhile one

I read it 2 days ago. It was also indicated that the sacking was also imminent !

Well looking at the current betting list, I for one hope one of the so called managers still in a job that have applied (according to the lower league look on twitter) that aren't even on it. As apart from Cowley, it's not very inspiring, worryingly Dean Holden is creeping up the list with a career win percentage less than Hughes and he also prefers a 3-5-2. Will be interesting to see what develops after this weekend and past the MK game.

Holden and Cowley odds both shortened today, Holden's significantly whilst McDonald's have lengthened slightly, although still odds on.

Perhaps a hint that they are on the shortlist for interviews this week?

Redfearn odds lengthened too, cannot see him being in the running

    This is so true.

I once interviewed a young lad who really talked the talk - incredibly impressive interview.. was utterly hopeless in practice!

Learnt a lot from that experience, but yes, you're absolutely correct there.

For me Offcomedun, we should sign Kev Mc up as player-manager now. In just three games, he has the players totally understanding what their roles are, how he wants them to set out. Football could and should be a fairly simple game, Kev doesn't over-complicate things which unfortunately Hughes continued to do. As a player, he still has alot to offer and could continue to be a second-halfer off the bench or the occasional starter when he sees fit. With Truey, Derbyshire and Doyler in the dug out, he would have alot of support. I was talking to a die-hard Wolves fan yesterday and he couldn't speak highly enough of MacDonald - bright, intelligent, an organizer, a fantastic reader of a game. He thought we should snap him up as manager before someone else does.

When he was recovering and studying for his badges at Fulham, he was coaching the U18 and U21s and when the Jaguars came over for the NFL in London, they train at the Fulham complex. He was around and helped all the players and staff from America around the complex and ask of he could help train with the NFL lads and see what it's about. The story on the back end when they finished was the Americans all agreed that Kevin Mcdonald was their favourite Fulham player as he was just infectious with his spirit and demeanour. They loved him.

Seems to be universally liked everywhere he has been. I think he has said he wouldn't be a full time player manager, he'd want to do one or the other.

The WOTP are cowards. They never have a go at the real problems such as Rupp and Sparks.

Side step things all the time.

My first and only claim to fame. I wrote that on there weeks ago, when plenty were baying for Hughes blood.

Ironically, I now think Hughes going was correct and after all records are there to be broken!!

Of the out of work managers it simply has to be one of those two.

We shouldn’t even be entertaining any of the other out of work shite like Holden and Redfearn.

Surely not Redfearn. He was holding fort at Oldham while they appointed a new manager after Unsworth left……in the National League.

The pressure is off if Mac is prepared to carry on for the time being he can asses what he wants and we can see who else becomes available. If Results keep coming it will be a no brainier.

The names being banded about are crazy

Personally, if it isn't either Nathan Jones or the Cowleys then just let KM carry on for the foreseeable - if it isn't broken, don't fix it type of thing

Chris Wilder is a pipe dream, although I would welcome him with open arms as well if it did happen

OK, how does he handle defeats?

What happens if hire him the lose 3-5 on a row?

Your brain needs to think deeper. All too much of a simple approach.
