Rumours on the Gillingham message board this morning that Steve Bruce is about to be announced as their new head-coach.
Gills fans describing it as "a coup if true".
I can't help but be reminded of a similar situation and reaction back in February last year somewhere further North. I'd predict the same ending.

 

Always thought he was extremely hard done by at Newcastle.
He had near identical record to Rafa. One's a hero, and the other was hounded out and his family abused.

 

I'd say a big difference is that Bruce played for Gillingham so he has some experience of football outside the elite albeit 40 years ago. He's also managed in the Championship with 4 promotions on his CV including 2 in the play offs so he knows what it's like to be going for promotion and how to get through the play offs. His style of play will be more suited to league 2 as he's not afraid of going long.

 

I think Bruce will be a success there. His, football style is much different to Hughes I think they are right to be excited
