Next manager

Years of us lot completely losing the plot whenever Evans name is mentioned. If he came here and won 3 on the bounce he'd be a club legend and we'd be calling for a statue of him to be commissioned. Football fans in a nutshell.

 

Equally if he came here and lost 3 on the bounce, people would be burning effigies of him outside the ground!
He aint coming here so it's a meaningless debate anyway.

 

I thought for the 1st time Hughes looked uncomfortable in his post match interview. He was trying to find different words to describe what he wanted without upsetting the fans further. It in noway resembled the match we all watched. He has to protect the players or otherwise he just looks ridiculous. He is responsible for bringing players here, he is responsible for choosing the team and the strategy.

It is apparent to me that he is not learning from previous games and therefore unlikely to know or put out a winning team. As to who comes next, well now that needs serious thought because we cannot carry on appointing managers then sacking them after a few months, Hughes has lasted longer than most. Plus name me a manager who wants a 30 man squad from a previous managers recruitment with the window shut until January? Furthermore we have wasted money on a grand scale here, and therefore we won’t be able to sustainably bring in players in January.


It is all very depressing for fans and I imagine for the club as well.

Karl Robinson
Leam Richardson

both had success at different levels but are known good coaches to develop what we have.

It’s all pointless as Pep could come in but until Rupp and Sparks are long gone and no where near football decisions we will still bumble along without a plan working on the cheap.

 

Heaven forbid we upset a handful of holier than thou fans who’ve paid £6 per game. Let them go

 

Does anyone really think that a manager who took over a team in the dumps in League 2, built them up, got them promoted to League 1, now sit on the top of the pile, sign a new longer contract, leave all that to come to Bradford City??

 

Makes me laugh the criticism of those who wouldn’t want Evans as manage a lot of which will be coming from people who criticise the “Anti Football” percentage game he plays

how long is Evans contract at Stevenage?
Does it expire next summer at the same time as Hughes?

A DOF (Football Man) choose your own title could work closely with a manager suggesting different approaches advising different tactics ie bouncing ideas of each other ultimately the manager stands or falls by what happens on the pitch and is his responsibility
Our club would benefit right now by someone respected in the game telling MH his tactics are rubbish etc etc and maybe put a halt to signing journey men on 3 year contracts, falling out with players who compound our current deficiencies
It doesn't mean a manager is a "puppet" because a DOF is there to speak to when things get tough 2 heads are better than one we need a keen young manager willing to do the hard miles to put us back on track and someone in the background steadying the onfield ship Managers like Parky who could run the show single handedly are few and far between
Rahic was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish and not deserving any comparison to what an experienced football man concentrating purely on the playing side could do for us

The DOF has become the norm in football, even at this level. Last season there were DOFs (or equivalent role named differently like director of sport etc) at 17 of the 24 L2 clubs. Similar number in L1.

It can work very well, but it needs to be a relationship from top to bottom that everyone is on board with.

We have nothing at the moment and to my way of thinking that's why so many managers fail here
We have no structure, an owner who deems to watch a game maybe twice a season a CEO who has no experience on the playing side of things and currently a manager who is closed to any suggestions/advice it's now filtered on to the pitch
It needs to start at the top otherwise we will struggle for a very long time

Well when the time comes that we have a DOF and we rise up through the khazi leagues into the Championship I’ll hold my hands up and say I was wrong.
I think I’ll be waiting a long time.
In general, an upturn in football club fortunes are generally linked to a larger injection of cash from owners, and bringing in better players.
A DOF could have all the miracle formulas but when you’re fishing in the shit pool for players it’s a pointless role.

 

I wish I possessed the hindsight some have on here not you alone @Loyalbantam , we've been down this road of managers who have done well in the lower league with promotions in their CV and it hasn't worked why all of a sudden do we believe it will change because Steve Evans walks in the door.
Not that its happening before you can bring the next manager in we have to dispose of the present manager. and for nothing else IMO he will be allowed time once the injured players are fit.
