Etherington can't have it both ways. He'll have been happy taking the payout when they sacked him.
He should then accept the terms of the payout.

Seriously I can’t get excited about any of the managers mentioned if we end up with one of them they are going to have to prove to me on the field of play, no more clever sound bites just show me what you are going to do to get promoted. I am hoping that Kev can pull it off tbh. I know he lacks experience but he has got this squad going.
If it isn’t Kev then it is most certainly on Sparks and Rupp.

It was Sparks who took a chance on Mac above the coaches. But no matter if he keeps him on and he fails it will be on him.If he goes outside for amanager who fails it will all piled on to him

Yes I know and in my view made the right decision. So to appoint someone else who doesn’t come up with the goods will be another false step.

They didn't sack him, he resigned. At the time Crawley issued a statement saying they'd agreed mutually to go their separate ways. I don't think he took any more from the club than his dues for the thirty odd days he was there.

Time will tell, but It seems that in the main, managers that we have brought in that have generated any kind of excitement over the period I have followed City have invariably failed.
I was too young to comment on the expectations surrounding Cherry and I appreciate McFarland before worked out well, but its the ones that have come in under the radar since that have made the biggest impact. The big name managers (Robson, Hughes) or the so called "proven" managers (Bowyer, Adams) have not worked out.
I genuinely think it will be a Dean Holden, a Leam Richardson or even a Kevin McDonald type appointment that will eventually work for us. I know its not the most rational way of looking at the present situation - but I will clutch onto any straws at the moment!

He is the CEO of the football club and we have no DOF or equivalent. Who do you think hires the manager or sets the footballing strategy (or lack of it)?

Not you thank the Bishop. The CeO doesn’t set the football strategy other than I want to be promoted tomorrow. How that is achieved is the managers and subsequently if you like the DoF AND the recruitment officers job. If one or collectively fail , they get the boot.
If you don’t know what a CEO does in any business God help us.

Kevin, you haven't got a clue, it's not even worth debating. You keep blindly defending Sparks whilst his incompetence leads us nowhere.

I ain’t defending him, I’m correcting you . Huge difference.
Name more than 4-5 CEO’s in the 92 clubs with football experience , because that’s what you are trying to say without daring to so..

Remember I am not defending him , rather correcting your misunderstanding of a CeO’s role in a business .

Just bring Steve Evans in, I was totally against it previously but I’m sick to death of everything related with this club now. He’s probably the only one who can get on with the tools at hand despite the incompetence above. I’m sick of us being a soft touch team, I’m happy for us to be despised while we climb the leagues at others expense. Time to be hated and winning than nice and losing. This whole recruitment process is becoming tedious anyway, give him the budget and get us to the championship within the next 4 years.

    Ship's sailed, Wilsden.

Ol' Steve will be linked with Championship jobs from hereon out until someone takes a risk on him.

I know there's a fantasy of him coming here based on previous interest, but when you're heading to the second tier either with or without your current club, I don't see how we're interesting at all.

I don’t think he’ll come, but we need someone who’s a bit of a hard arse like when Parky came in under Lawn and Rhodes. For me I just don’t see any of the names working under our ‘leadership’ with any sort of success.

A CEO is there to make the business work. Football is unique in a business sense in that football management is a strange beast. You employ folk to do their jobs and try and implement systems to help them within your budget. But after that it's about relying on them to get it right and one big f off slice of luck. Let's face it, if Billy Clarke had put that chance away or Tony McMahon had squared that ball we'd have been looking at Rahic in a different light. Same goes for Hughes, who would have thought he would have bottled the playoffs like he did? Certainly not Sparks, whose reputation makes or breaks on decisions like that.

No, that’s the owners job to provide and agree.

You are viewing it like a normal business. Football isn’t. It’s all about what happens on the pitch and the assets. Why do you think owners come under pressure?

So, what you are saying is Rupp is blameless for us being where we are currently?

He hired a CEO that’s a naive, he takes no accountability for our failure to improve. Hence why he needs to sell and feck off.
