Jon - the lad in @Wakefield Bantam@Wakefield Bantam post above says this:
    MAN OF THE MATCH

Andy Cook — probably the best performance by a number 9 at Rodney Parade for some years. Was always a problem for County inside the box, linked well and took chances clinically.

Not a bad way to return and get your season off and running. Nice to see opposition fans appreciated his performance too (albeit through gritted teeth).

For the first time since the end of the 21/22 season, we've now got a fully match fit Walker. And it's making a big difference.
Thought he was excellent against Harrogate. It must have been frustrating for him to be surrounded by a bunch of talented by naive youngsters, but his attitude to them and the match was exemplary.

They've scored 16 league goals so far, we've scored 6. Can't see them not scoring, can't see us scoring. It's coming to something when you start thinking that if we manage to lose to Newport by just one goal we will have done well.

I get you're being optimistic Jon and I don't want to sound harsh but that's the sort of post I expect from @banbrotam@banbrotam .

Not a single thing we've seen from this squad all season suggests we're about to embark on any sort of positive run and that was also before we had any injuries so there's no excuses, we've just been consistently poor from the outset.

Just imagine the Grimsby and Harrogate games, but in the away kit.

What if a team get a player sent off in first minute and manage to defend like their lives depend on it for 89 minutes and get a well earned 0-0?

    0 points?

Leave that sort of thing to the Yanks who can’t comprehend not having a team winning.

All draws whether 0-0 or 5-5 should get a point each.

So has Wilson, but he's not even on the bench today. I'd have preferred him in the match day squad than Afoka, but I guess Hughes just prefers loan players to the ones he signs on 3 year deals.

maybe but flogging Cook to death up front alone again, is not the best way to bring him back in to the fold, in my opinion.

First 15 minutes of second half will be massive now.

Hold on or score and we can settle down.
Concede and it gets a bit twitchy.

That’s always been the case though hasn’t it?
Smallwood just doesn’t play those passes.
McDonald when fully fit should always start because of passes like that.

I’ve already commented in this thread so maybe learn to read, oh and learn formations as it’s 4231. Only difference being the 3 in behind are actually supporting Cook.

Yes I'm just teasing, hindsight is great.

But Hughes has said all week he might play Cook, and also outlined that the situation isn't perfect, so it's hardly total desperation...

We have to give Hughes his due today, though some would apparently rather tag @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam and try and make an argument out of us winning...

What a cracking win this in against a team in great form at home. And the best thing is it shuts up the negativity for a few days at least

    What a fat bar steward!

He'll be forgotten, but big up to gillead today. Worked his socks off and was excellent. Let's hope tulloch can keep that up and MacDonald come on in fitness.

No I'm laughing at the usual pessimism from @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey . Not thinking we're suddenly going to walk the league.

Having a bit of balance, which means that not everything is bad and not everything is world beating, is a good policy - when you're in attritional L2.

Most I’ve enjoyed a game for a long while! Let’s hope we can string some consistent performances together of that nature.

I thought Walker was excellent, although obviously Cook and Tulloch will take the plaudits.
