Yup, i browse their football section and get caught out thinking i didn't realise Arsenal were playing that night only to click on and see it's the womens game. The Beeb have a vested interest as its about the only sport they can afford to televise these days.

What does it need to remind people about? Can we have some specifics here?

I support women playing football. However I do not watch it as I prefer mens football. I have watched the National team and that is not bad tbh. I have no desire to watch amateur football just my choice. If at some point it becomes widespread professional I might.

I do not think the points system should be linked to the men’s football. It is discriminating against ppl who don’t watch women’s football as those that do may well accrue more points and are able to gain advantage. To try and force it builds up resentment and that is the last thing we need. They could set up a different system for women’s football.

No one is upset, it’s just annoying.

Man U Women played Arsenal yesterday and there were 6,000 people there; Brighton Women played Everton Women in front of a crowd of 2,400.
The BBC Results and Fixtures page puts women’s games above the Championship. We even had a Ugandan Woman v some other far flung country international friendly above the Championship recently - absolutely ridiculous.
Forcing it on us is having a negative effect when 99% of men’s football fans couldn’t give two hoots about the women’s game.

I’ve bookmarked 4 different BBC Football pages now (Prem/Champ/L1/L2) to get around not having to look at the BBC’s main football page.

Yer that's right slag off a group that has out recently significantly out performed their male counterparts. Makes real sense.

Why doesn't women's cricket or wome's rugby get ranked the same way as women's football ? Easy............. it doesnt get coverage on the BBC so isn't pushed up the list by a left wing equality agenda.

Football is more popular so will always get more attention however, when there are major events in rugby like the women's Six Nations that is ranked highly. Currently 8 of the top 10 rugby union stories are womens.

Because I've got no interest in responding to childish comments. If people don't want to bother with women's football then that's their choice but the way people like that feel they need to tell the world they don't care is weird.
This match should be a brilliant occasion and something to celebrate but it seems people are threatened by women in football. The club wanting to support the women's side had no down sides and everyone benefits, if you can find a down side then it says more about you.

So what? Lots of male club athletes would beat women's Olympic athletes. Likewise women cyclists. Does that render Kelly Holmes, Paula Radcliffe, FloJo, Laura Penny, Victoria Pendleton et al, pointless? Should UK media stop reporting women's athletics, cycling, rowing, tennis etc because the times, distances, power etc don't match the men's?

So, exactly the same as you've been doing then??

    Bloody hypocrite!

Nobody feels threatened, you decided to make this all about your opinion, you posed the question and other posters responded that they simply have no interest in womens football, and many wished the womens team well nevertheless. What nobody has agreed with so far (except you and offcomedun) is that someone buying a ticket for a womens team game is awarded loyalty points that are inevitably only used when purchasing tickets for the mens fixtures

Words absolutely fail me at times

I never said I agreed with it. I merely pointed out that your assumption that a Loyalty Scheme equates to an Away Priority Scheme was clearly mistaken.

I appreciate the wording is ambiguous, but what on earth else can loyalty points be used for this season, except away games & high profile home cup games (which we have none btw)

I'm not sure you fully understood the context of the post and the post I replied to.

I very much doubt a 15 year old boy would beat any of the female gold medal athletes you've mentioned though if that's the point you're making?

Not wanting to get involved in the argument but.......I'm sure I heard on the radio last week that 15 year old male 400m runners times in the US were matching or beating the female olympic times. Just for info :)

This is a forum for debate and discussion- nobody is threatened by women in football, my issue is with the the likes of BBC and Sky forcing it upon us (quite often as the main football headlines!) when 95% of football fans aren’t the slightest bit interested.
