If only we had the problems Newcastle are about to have. Richest club in world football at £320 billion. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out. Wave bye bye to that great premier league in the sky…..

Course they won't. All they want is to win something, anything. Bruce will be gone by Xmas and someone like Mancini or similar will be in.

And if they don't make the CL places, they'll be on to Boris to fix it.

With all their money Newcastle will take some turning around, as Sheikh Mansour found out at Manchester City, a season on season improvement will be great for the Geordies.

Not going down is a start. Wonder if Ashley fancies a punt on a league two project ?

If it shuts the smug Mancs up then I’m all for it.
Can’t stand United and City have completely lost their identity.

I take "Ashleys" balance sheet first approach if it made us into Newcastle as they are under his ownership ! Would take that all day against this garbage National League standard operation we have festered on us.

So the Premier League will now put Saudi Arabia against Abu Dhabi with two sides from America vying for top spot.

    Tragic!

But our ambition isn’t to win the PL or Champions league.
I’d be happy to be operating at the top end of the Championship, maybe a yo-yo club like Norwich or Watford and with an owner like Ashley we’d definitely get that.

Did he actually ever invest any money into the club except for buying it in first place?

Yet their fans absolutely hated him and the lack of investment on the football side. He took more from Newcastle for himself and didn’t give a damn about the fans. The club is the 17th highest revenue producing club in the world in terms of annual revenue (according to Wiki) , yet never really came close to winning a trophy. Would you really want the same toxic atmosphere that we sampled under Rahic for 18 months, and that Newcastle have endured for 12+ years? What he made of Newcastle, was a solvent club that were happy to bob along and occasionally drop into the championship. A complete breakdown in the relationship between club and fans.

No one trumps the scousers on smugness or grief. I'm off there today so putting it to the test.

Nothing new though is it, back in 17/18 at the end of the season, 62% of the PL and Championship clubs had solely foreign investment/ownership. Since then, it's only gone one way. Not many clubs are English owned (at least fully) anymore, just due to the Premier League being a far more profitable business, than a club being run solely a football club.

    PL ownership/Investment by nationality:
    Arsenal - American
    A Villa - American/Egpytian
    Brentford - English
Brighton - English has 75% share, rest is American
    Burnley - American
    Chelsea - Russian
C Palace - English 64% two Americans share the rest
Everton - Iranian owns 77% rest English
Leeds - Italian 63% rest is American
    Leicester - Thai
    Liverpool - American
    Man City - Arabian
    Man United - American
    Newcastle - Saudi
Norwich - 53% Welsh, two English share the rest
    Southampton - Chinese 80%, Swiss 20%
    Tottenham - English
    Watford - Italian
    West Ham - Welsh 51%, English 35%, American 14%
    Wolves - Chinese
