    Apparently he's not having the best of times on loan at Hibernian and wants to move back down nearer home.

    it's all about gambling and prioritising different areas. Most clubs in league 2 especially will have a clear number 1 and take the change he doesn't get injured but if he does then there's the potential of an emergency loan to cover the injury. If this was outside the window then we would most likely be able to recall Horby and play him until the injury has passed.

    I wonder if O'Donnell being injured might actually encourage us to play more offensively? It's been easy for the players to go along with 'safety first' when they have full confidence in their defence, but with a new keeper between the sticks, they might not feel so assured of that approach anymore. Just a thought.

    Really wouldn’t be the worse option out there. He and his family definitely had a strong affinity with the club which is always a positive. That said, sure there are plenty of other experienced/good options out there if we need someone for an extended period.

    Also given we need someone pretty sharpish and he’s two weeks away tells me it’s very unlikely.

    I would imagine it’s fairly hard as well to find a first team quality keeper who is willing to play second fiddle. It’s not like an outfield player where you can give them 20mins off the bench to keep them happy, a keeper is only going to get minutes in a pointless cup like the EFL trophy or if an injury happens (and keepers are less likely to get injured to a level they can’t play). It’s not like a season sitting on the bench of a league 2 team sets you up financially for life so they will want to be playing minutes. And a keeper of the right level won’t be short of options where he will get minutes

    Except seems pretty certain he is off to Blackpool. And even if he wasn’t based on the fact his move to Cheltenham feel through as they couldn’t find room in the budget for what Pompey wanted as a wage contribution you have to feel City don’t either
