I've received a couple of messages from users about the above alert at the top of the forum so rather than answering the same question multiple times I thought I would provide a single update here.

First of all it is a legit alert, we haven't been hacked or anything like that. And not all of you will be seeing it, its just the subsection of you so if you aren't seeing it you don't need to worry about it.

We have been seeing an increased number of bounced emails from certain email hosts, mainly those belonging to one of the handful of mail services Microsoft provide. If you are using one of these services it means you may not be getting any site announcements we send, any of the email alerts you have subscribed to and probably most importantly emails used for account recovery in the event of forgetting you login details.

If you are using one of the email services you will be seeing the alert. I would advise that if you are seeing the alert you click the link in the alert and change your email account to another one. Personally I would recommend either Google Gmail or Yahoo mail as both are free and they aren't bouncing emails. The alert will go away when you aren't using a email with a domain on the alert list.

At the moment the alert list is

    hotmail.com (& co.uk)
    live.com (&.co.uk)
    outlook.com
    msn.com
    icloud.com

If any of those stop bouncing a significant number of emails I will remove them from the list and if any other service starts bouncing emails I will add them so if the message goes away on its own or in a weeks time you see the alert then you know why :)

How long will this be up for? Or will it stay indefinitely? It's a little annoying when browsing on the mobile.

Until either Microsoft stop being dicks and blocking us simply because because our emails are deemed generic (as most are template driven ones) or I find a fix

Yeah. We are having no issues with Gmail so a gmail account you use just for this site which either you forward to your main account or just use it separately works well

Just turn off email notifications from the site? Why would you ever need an email from BantamTalk anyway?

I'm not bothered to be honest. Didn't even know if they were on or not. It's just that this message at the top of the screen is a bit annoying every time I log on. I've had my hotmail account for about 20 years so I'm not going to change it now,.

Seriously its advice like that which most likely has Microsoft seeing Xenforo generated emails as spam and then blocks them before they even get to the persons mailbox. NEVER mark emails that aren't spam as spam, if they are emails you don't want you should unsubscribe.

You don't have to change your email address, you are allowed more than one email. All anyone is suggesting is either you create a backup email and either set it to forward to your main address or if you are only ever going to use it for things like password recovery just only login when you actually need to use that function
