We are looking for some input on what beer to next put in the Kiosks at BCAFC!
Please take a minute to go to our website and complete a short survey.

    https://www.tiffinstadiumcatering.co.uk/beer-survey

Due to changes in the market, Coors Light in bottles is no longer being produced, therefore we would like your input to decide which brand we next bring on draught. After a thorough survey with Molson Coors, we have two options - Madri at £5.40 a pint or Coors at £4.75.

If Coors is chosen, it will remain as part of the meal deals. Madri will not be included in the meal deals.

This does not effect Carling, which will remain on draught.

Neither option is attractive to me.

Seems somewhat rich that other clubs can offer more choice!

‘….will be consulting with supporters on the ale on offer. The guest ale for Tuesday's game is Timothy Taylor's Landlord’. https://www.charltonafc.com/news/view/616d785e9d436/real-ale-to-be-available-in-the-fans-bar-on-matchdays

‘The Supporters Club bar is legendary and a genuine haven for real beer fanatics. Along with a full range of wines and spirits, the Club serves lagers, bottled and canned beers and draught cider and perry’. https://www.orientsupporters.org/camra/

Bright Beer: With "bright beer", the beer is transferred from one cask to another whilst leaving the yeast behind.

Due to no yeast being present there is no need for the beer to settle, meaning it is ideal for transporting and drinking straight away.

Bright beer needs to be kept cool…’ https://www.theflyingduck.co.uk/wharfedale-brewery-rent-a-cask/

Until there is some real choice and quality, then I will get a decent beer before I enter the ground.

Personally, I think Madri is an excellent lager.

I think if the club were to sell ales, bottles would be better.

    Nowt wrong with Saltaire Brewery.

But since that's not the question, I'd opt for Madri. Would fully expect Coors to get the nod though as it's cheaper and less strong.

I commend @Tiffin Stadium Catering@Tiffin Stadium Catering for coming on here to consult with fans on their beer option.

However, I'm with @Bigrod@Bigrod on this one: "Until there is some real choice and quality, then I will get a decent beer before I enter the ground."

They could have the best choice of quality beers available but I don’t want to drink from a plastic glass on a freezing concrete concourse so for me they might as well just stick to Carling as most people will drink before the game in a warm pub with some atmosphere.
    Just my opinion of course.

Hi @Bigrod@Bigrod thanks for your feedback. We would love to be able to offer ales in the kiosks unfortunately due to length of life on the product we are unable to stock them or would run out of them on match days very quickly! Also as you've probably seen the kiosks are not the largest and space is an issue for us with ales only coming in 9 Gallon barrels we would have to stock quite a lot of them! In the future we will look at the likes of Saltaire Brewery for bottles but we are tied into a deal with Molson Coors for now and secondly any bottles must come in plastics so we are limited in choice - this is why we have brought the new beer choice to the fans.

Exactly this. I couldn't care less what they sell from my perspective. Whatever the club makes the most money from and that will be standard lagers.

Thanks for the reply. I think I and most others who like cask beer, would accept that you may well run out. I wouldn’t expect Tiffin to purchase huge amounts of cask beer. You would need to gauge the actual take up, so you could gain an understanding as to the popularity and buy accordingly. Buying in barrels usually works out cheaper per unit than bottles. But if you sold at a parity, then the additional mark up would defray any potential wastage loss. Actually you are wrong about the size of the containers. You can readily get 20 Litre poly pins (36 pints), which easily sit on top of a counter.
The kiosks as you say are relatively small, however it may well be that a fundamental review of the space could be undertaken and if necessary the existing ones altered or demolished and new ones constructed which make a far better use of the space available. People have to ‘think outside the box’, be innovative, creative, dynamic and respond.
    How about a fresh survey?
    Options could be:
    • Do you currently have an alcoholic drink in the stadium?
    • If you don’t, is the reason down to the choice available?
    • If we were able to stock cask beers would you be interested?

I'll bet you the interest is that low it's a non starter in the kiosks. You might be able to run with a small stock in the corporate areas but for something that is very niche for 23 games a year just seems a lot of effort. And the bottle tie up with Molson or any other like for like supplier limits somewhat of what you can do.

A nice pint of Boltmaker would go down well ! Logistically though I guess it's impossible.

Thats why I suggested another survey. Clearly those who respond positively may not have a drink, alternatively those who are unaware, but are subsequently alerted may buy. But it would give some indication.
I have always thought they could have a system like the theatre, where you can preorder and collect from a separate section of the kiosk to reduce the wait.

WHU ran a trial APP last season where we could order and pay for drinks & food. Worked well, but it was small numbers involved.

Not really. There's quite a few pubs selling it across West Yorkshire.

You might want to consider a holder other than a pint glass as you make your way to the ground though

Real ale will never be sold in the kiosks.
Unless you can judge to the pint how much you would sell there would be too much waste.
They don't sell it at racetracks for the same reason, one meeting every few weeks so good beer would be off by the time you came to use it again.
Just stuff like lager and Guinness available at £7 a pop.

If you use that logic, no-one would ever organise a beer festival again.

Appreciate the transparency @Tiffin Stadium Catering@Tiffin Stadium Catering, perhaps you could teach the club a thing or two :)

In my opinion Madri is just over-marketed crap. Any beer that goes from being unheard of to every bar within 12-18 months is a result of being over-pushed and over-marketed, and at £5.40 absolutely over-priced. It's a very standard beer and it really isn't any better than your standard Carling or Fosters.

Beer festivals by their nature are there to showcase the art of brewing. Alcohol at sport is primarily sold for a profit margin.

Are you aware where Madri is brewed?
