Do think the future looks very bright for England. Shaping up to be one of the strongest sides in an age!

I am really surprised to not see Jack Grealish in there though. Wonder if Southgate thinks he has an attitude problem?

The central midfield area still looks weak to me, we need a real leader in there but with Henderson not there it looks light.

I'd have left out one of the 3 central strikers in the squad for another body in midfield. We only play one up top anyway and any injuries to Kane, Abraham or Ings and Rashford can play there or even Sterling.

Its a promising squad. The idea of these games being played now though, with such a short turnaround between seasons, is a nonsense.

Agree with this. I always feel you need at least one experienced midfielder in there both to be commanding and help the lesser experienced players out.

It's a very young squad, with little international experience. I'm hoping next years Euro's will give them the experience needed to go far in the 2022 World Cup.

No summer break this year, little break next year with the delayed Euros, then straight into a World Cup in horrible playing conditions. They're all going to be knackered, or injured.

Very promising future but Southgate could be the problem.

On the one hand, credit for the new faces. Foden, Greenwood are incredibly talented. Ings and Ward Prowse picked too and fully deserved. Phillips an odd one, but a weak area so maybe should be looked at.

That defense is a joke though. No left backs, 3 right backs and some awful centre backs, favoured over Coady and Tarkowski. Both statistically far better centre backs than Keane and Mings.

Calling up Maguire is absolutely shameful too and ignoring Grealish is a crime. Maybe there is an issue off the field there but the stats don't lie with Grealish. England's best CM last season and a player who can carry the ball from deep, something we lacked for a long time!!!

How Keane, Mings or Dier get in the squad is beyond me. Keane and Mings are solid bottom half premier league CBs who shouldn’t be near the England squad and Dier is a poor player who isn’t really a CB or CM.

I am interested to see Ben White in the premier league next season, hoping he lives up to the hype and follows on from a solid championship season and forces his way in. CB and LB are definitely the weak spots In the English talent pool.

    Agree with that....

After Chilwell, Shaw and Rose there isn't much else. On the other side, we must have a at least 5/6 capable right backs! Players like Wan Bissaka and Reece James not getting a sniff.

I'd put Tarkowski, Coady, Dunk, O'Connel, Holgate and even Smalling ahead of Mings, Dier and Keane. Far better seasons anyway.

I'm not sure how anyone thinks that's a good squad. Its like he has put say the top 40 English players into a hat (plus a couple of wildcards such as Phillips) and just pulled them out at random.

With Maguire now being withdrawn the CB position looks weak. Gomez has potential but its still largely potential. Dier has had his career hindered by not knowing where he is playing, he isn't a CB and isn't a DM. Keane and Mings are decent but not outstanding. I guess Walker may play there in a 3 but not convinced with him as a CB tbh. Suppose the plus point is Stones isn't there.

FB is also a joke. 3 RB's and no LB's. And I haven't been following Trippier that much in Spain but the fact its rumoured that he is moving to Villa I can only guess he hasn't exactly set the world alight.

Midfield is all potential but no-one you can really rely on. When Ward-Prowse is the experienced head in there you know there is a problem. After all he was always the next big thing coming out of the Saints academy and while he is a solid PL footballer he really hasn't kicked on as he was expected to.

The forwards are maybe the only area you would say it looks really good but there is 7 to take up 3 positions which seems overkill. One of Abraham and Ings seem surplus especially as Rashford and Greenwood will most likely be used wide but both would prefer being central.

It's one of those situations where its hard to argue on a player by player basis why they shouldn't be in the squad but as a squad as a whole its totally unbalanced and as a likely starting 11 there seems too many squad players that are going to have to start and not enough nailed on starters with experience

Looks good going forward but can’t say that team would do much at a major tournament, but obviously things can change between now and then. The defence and central midfield leaves a lot to be desired.
