So National League North and South teams have voted to stop and void this season. Conference teams have voted to carry on.

This will mean no relegation from the conference.

I wonder if conference teams will vote again or is that it? They now have to finish?

Sounds like the National League is in a right mess. Seven clubs don't want to continue.

National League season to continue but North and South divisions declared null and void - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56119952

I'm almost thinking the best solution might be to roll this season into next. Either with all teams playing each other 4 times or maybe to try and get things back in sync perhaps only 3 times (Home then Away and the a 3rd at a neutral ground). As it is we now have a situation where if NL proper continues most of the teams are playing games for no reason, only those with a promotion chance have a reason to play and clubs are surely going to look for ways not to play their main players so as to reduce costs and use things like cheap youth players which could impact who goes up. And if NL proper cancels that same issue goes into League 2 and you could then see L2 teams pushing to void the season etc etc.

Wonder what will happen to Dover Athletic?

Currently skint and not playing their games, which will affect the rest of the teams in Nat League so do they get demoted but no team replaces them?
Surely they cant be allowed to stay in the Nat League.
Allegedly their players and staff have been furloughed so the taxpayer is picking up the bill?

I have a good information source for National League South who tells me that at least one of the top clubs in the division is preparing to mount a legal challenge to the decision to void the season.
I wonder if it's related to the fact that NL N & S held a combined vote, rather than separate. A majority of clubs in NLS voted to carry on but we're outvoted because most of the northern clubs wanted to stop.

thing is I don’t think the membership is fixed of the North and South so they still couldn’t do promotion and relegation with just one league operating. What if two teams from Newcastle were bottom two to be relegated but only Southern league were promoting and accepting new teams. They would have to go into that league

Yes, good point. I've just been told there's a legal action being planned. I was speculating about what it's based on. I may be miles wide of the mark about that.

I had seen a couple of teams were examining legal options. I suppose it will all depend on if the league has followed their rules. They did have to pass a special resolution first to separate the two levels so that conference and North/South could vote separately. I would be surprised if they left themself open to legal action
