Reported to be signing for Bristol City for £4m. With our sell on clause from Huddersfield surely we are due a percentage of a percentage ?

Our sell on clause will have ended with Huddersfield Town's sale. We don't have an infinite right on future sales.

Are you sure on that? I am sure I have head of deals where a player moved from club A to club B, who then sold him to club C, and club A got a trickle down of the sell on when he moved from B to C.

Whether money can trickle down twice I am not sure?

So why are we due a bonus from Sheffield United staying up as part of the McBurnie deal?

It certainly can do under certain circumstances but would in this case require a sell-on deal to have already been negotiated between Town and Burnley. I doubt anybody would know this for sure.

But the more important point is that even if Town did have a sell-on arrangement, Burnley are not selling Wells for more than they paid for him. In which case there is no profit and therefore no sell-on fee.

It's part of the initial deal from Swansea and sheff utd (the first transfer) We got everything we were owed when Burnley signed him. We agreed a sell on with Huddersfield who are nothing to do with this deal.

Because we get a % of the transfer fee, and that fee would increase if Sheffield United stayed up. I fail to see what connection that has with this.

We would be if they sold him for more than they paid for him.

It won't be seen even if we do, so I'm personally not fussed.

I'm also not fussed if we get a tax refund in case we overpaid, or something equally mundane.

Not really sure why it matters just because it's player-related. What would it be at best, £90k? Probably cover's Callum Cooke's wage.

some interesting sell on cases about. San Isidro earned a nice little amount of money when Pedro signed for Chelsea from Barca (that was due to them developing him in their youth set up). He moved in 2004 to Barca and still got the sell on years down the line.

Not saying we'd get that with Wells here though as we didn't develop him. Spanish rules may be different too.

Southampton waived their right to a sell on for Bale apparently, and took 3m cash off Spurs when they were skint. Then when he moved to Madrid they got no sell on. Ouch.

I think the example of McBurnie suggests that we should routinely include it in any sale of youth players as you never know what can happen in the future!

Wasn't it also a case with Sheff united, that when Kyle Walker moved from Spurs to Man City, the sell on clause they received is actually their "record transfer fee" received, even though that didn't really involve their player as such.

Isn't there a small "solidarity payment" to former clubs for some players? Without googling I'm pretty certain it's nominal amounts but I do recall seeing it a few times.

The lady next door has a host of empty Barr's and GeeBee pop bottles in her garden, are they still redeemable for a few shillings, maybe that could go towards the transfer kitty.

Apparently Nakhi's mrs always fancied Bristol (after Huddersfield, obviously).

    Done deal for £5m.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51320578

Even if we had a 5% second sell on clause we’d be entitled to £250,000, which, along with the Doyle & Vaughan income, should theoretically give us £500,000 for a top striker.
