Everyone has a different interpretation of "big money". A lot of our MPs say they can earn much more than £70k in another job but do what they do as a sense of duty.

With comments like that they could certainly earn money on the stag with stand up comedy.

A bit of both RT. I'm not over enamoured with some of our MPs and I'm not sure what big money is in the lower tiers of our fl.

Haha as some know on here my distain for MPs knows no limits. I guess the riches in the lower leagues depend on the club and your status as a football player. Talk of Salford paying Trowell over seven grand a week is crazy in league 2, thats probably higher than nearly every player in league 1.

I will put my tin hat on now but I would like MPs to be paid a lot more. We might then attract some real business talent as opposed to those who see it as a vocation or career politicians. A number of our MPs have family money which allows them to live a lifestyle and be a mp. They are too entwined with the establishment

I fear paying MP's more would give them an even
bigger sense of self worth and encourage their already
inflated ego's to continue to flaunt "they know best"
above the views of the people they're supposed to
    serve!

I would not be averse to paying them more as it can be a difficult job, However I do object to them having free TV licence and gas, electric and water bills paid for as they should get and pay bills like the rest of us, Also the food allowance should stop along with any payments for mortgage payments and a maximum rent allowance set

Agree. I wouldn’t pay them what we do now. They virtually do what they want, and I am not convinced they serve the public. If they think they can get more in other work, bye. I have contacted my self serving....... and all he does is pass my concerns onto somebody else, and then nothing.

Lets here none of this talk of paying them more. With the expenses disgrace on top of other fiddles that go on they get paid more than enough as it is. Pretty much all of them have other business interests as well, not surprising with the amount of time they get off. People who think paying them more will attract a better calibre of MP are utterly deluded, it will not make one bit of difference.

They can earn more when they actually perform for the people they serve. Like any other industry. Except maybe football.

Performance related pay, now there is a thought lol I personally think they should all be paying part of their wages back; self interested, and failure to listen to ppl who they are supposed to serve.

And the should only get a proportionate amount relative to the percentage of votes cast for them, as they wouldn't be serving the interests of those who didn't vote for them.

You do realise that you aren't everyone right? That's the problem MP's have, they are having to represent everyone in a constituency but everyone is different. For everything that's important to you there will be someone who is against that thing. Unless everything they do lines up with what you want then you will feel they aren't representing you, its a lose lose job

I don’t assess him on his response to me. I look at voting attendances and expenses claims, and what other work they do. I have his response to me as an example. They all appear to have research assistants, PR, use their own relatives as secretaries, all of which we pay for. My question is what do they actually do? Yes I do know there is the exception to the rule. They are part of the public sector, but they get to make their own rules on salaries, expenses, holidays, etc. Ask a nurse how much they get to set their own working hours.
