It's to do with shortage of older quality properties in the "right" area, as ever. 2 houses either side of me sold within days in the last year with good rises on 2010 prices. If you don't want a "box" new build there is not much available for a family in Thackley, most older properties are too small or without a garden.

I'm not saying you can't find value but In the main it's stagnated around here. My mum and dad live in a house built in the 60,s, really nice, spacious but it's worth the same as it was 10 years ago.

I bet you'd find that most houses that are not new builds which are going for decent money have either been extended or have the capability to do so.

I was brought up in a semi. When I was at school everyone lived in a semi or a terraced apart from really rare exceptions. Nowadays there's a real shift towards larger properties even though family sizes have probably stayed the same.

Try West Norfolk... it’s a different planet to Bradford..

    Beautiful place to live.

Wildlife to dream about, endless woodland walks, lovely small villages.

    Respectful drivers (honest!)

It’s like the Dales without the big hills

Door not locked until we go to bed!

What about Baildon. Nice area doesn't seem too pricey. Other places closer to Bingley like Wilsden and Cottingley may also be worth considering. Still would be within half an hour of pudsey.

Having a nice area makes such a difference. After 10 years in Allerton we rarely went out for a drink locally as everywhere was a bit rough, so nice that's no longer the case!
