This is a very good point that seems to have been overlooked. A left sided centre back getting used to his leftback/leftwingback partner is like a striker getting used to his strike partner in a two upfront. You get used to their movement and their positional space awareness, you become telepathic in who tracks who and when to cover for each other. Even more important as Kelly is still learning his craft as a centre back is that he gets a regular dance partner. It's why I get dismayed when i see this 'utility' or 'versatile' tag thrown around when we sign someone. Our best left backs over the years played at left back, Wayne Jacobs, James Meredith to name two, we wouldn't play them at centre back, it's a completely different role. Same with the likes of Darbs at right back.

 

I don’t even think we should have signed him full stop. If I had been in charge the person who suggested him would have received a good slapping round the head. Once he became manager we had to support him, but omg it was grim.

 

Doubt their fans see it that way he took them up and then came back and saved them from relegation

 

Yes it is like relationships there is always someone for every fan, and obviously he and Morcambe fit together. He never made it off first base with the city fans.

We've had some questionable managers in my lifetime but none have made me as depressed (football wise) as I was under Adams. The man is an absolute dementor, sucked all joy I had from football out of me until he left.

Peter Taylor and Gary Bowyer were worse for me. Id take Derek Adams back over both of them. And I didnt like Adams at all...

Recent memories Gary Bowyer was the absolute pitts. Hate is a strong word but as a manager I utterly despised him and still do.

 

I'd have paid good money to see this. Handbag bouncing off the forehead.

 

Adams time with us was disastrous but no one can say he is not a successful manager at lower league level

Nobody of any note misses out today. Odusina the odd man out again. If we are bringing in 1 or 2 more, I think we could see 2 or 3 more leave considering Taylor, Gilliead, Walker, Chapman and Oliver are out injured.
