Walker and Gilli injured. Crichlow and Banks gone. Pretty obvious we needed a new LB and a goalscoring CM to improve the side. Smith came in too to replace Wright. Folk crying out for them all summer.

 

It'll be deja vu Dave, the Doyle situation all over again. He’ll bag a load of goals, get recalled at Christmas due to fan pressure, do feck all for us, then go back to Swindon and finish one of the leagues top scorers

We've only one of the back four starting yesterday, from the Carlisle defeat.
Only Smallwood starting from the midfield.

He ripped up a defence that kept 19 clean sheets last season.
Why didn’t he just replace Crichlow and keep the rest the same?
We needed a goalscoring midfielder and we now have one.
If he had just brought in 2 quality wingers and a new striker it would have been enough.

A new left sided centre back, Pattison for Walker/Gilliead, Odour on the right, a new left winger. A few tweaks and stop conceding from corners.

Rochdale and Barrow at home, those two footballing giants, lots of draws in that run

 

4 clean sheets on the bounce. We look a million miles away from that.

 

we look a million miles from being a decent football team for this level and yet on paper, we have some decent players in the squad, so it has to be down to the manager and how he uses the players .

 

I said we were poor at Accrington and got hammered. Even @wetherbywhaler telling me I must have been watching a different game.

We've been seeing what I would regard as poor performances for the best part of 18 months now and seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel.

 

Quite a few moaned about the 4 2 3 1 system Hughes used last season and probably partly because of that he's changed the system so we get the ball forward quicker. Personally I thought last season's system worked quite well, especially away from home. I felt we just need the squad freshening up a bit. Signings like McDonald and Pattison were a decent start to that, especially Pattison given Jamie Walker's injuries history. Too many changes to a system that wasn't far off.

 

I believe I read it from an official Bradford City source its six months so if required we can bring him back or review the situation again.
