Mistaken Identity

    A minor gripe, but it is annoying when reporters and other commentators don't seem to be able to correctly identify players in their written reports of the game. You can forgive a mistake commentating in live play, but writing after the event should be correct.

    In his write up of the game for the T&A Simon Parker said the pass to French leading to the 1st goal was made by Cooke, when it was Watt. I suppose their numbers are similar, 8 and 18.
    In his report for Bolton News, Marc Iles says the cross for Novak's goal came from Cooke, not French.
    The Bolton fans page, Lion of Vienna Suite think Novak scored the header to win the game.
    I know it is the start of the new season, and faces may be unfamiliar, but if you are going to write a report, make it a correct one.

    Always been a bugbear of mine.

    At this level I understand opposition media not knowing all our players (and vice versa), but SP should be getting facts right from our end.

    The commentator on the game yesterday thought Novak was on a hat trick and quite often mixed the o'conners

    AK called one of our players "Julian" at one point. But to be honest, this is all that got me through last season - AK's gaffs made entertainment for what at times, was dire listening :) The icing on the cake for me, was when Tim Steer posted a pic of Andy, and he's dressed up in the commentary box like some Peaky Blinder! Brilliant.
