although being a season ticket holder for many many seasons now,
i seem to miss a loads of city's games through working commitments, ( having to work alternate weekends )
going on my hols, and other things that always seem to crop up.
my first game this coming season should be charlton athletic at home
i was just wondering, if there's a lot of other supporters who miss loads of games.

That will be my first games as well:( I have missed games before, but that is life. It might be no bad thing, they need a few games under their belt before they start to motor hopefully.

Depending on my work situation I can miss anything between 25-75% of Home games every season. I think last season was the best I had done as I only 2 or 3 games. In one of the PL seasons I ended up working in London for a few months and missed some great matches eg Chelsea at home.

I don’t prioritise football over every other thing in life, but I do try to get to most home matches.

I have missed a lot of Tuesday night matches due to studying over in York. It’s a big effort to get over to Bradford and back to the other side of York on nights as it means I won’t be back until well after midnight.

I also made the decision last season that if it’s expected to be heavily raining for a lot of the day, not to bother travelling over. I got caught by a storm last winter and just decided that I didn’t fancy doing that again. There’s no fun in trying to get back all that way in soaked clothes and it’s probably not very healthy either :(

Yes, it was a miserable drive home that night!

@Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander Wasn't that one of Joe Cole's early games for the 'Ammers?

If it had gone the other way, I'd still rate it as a classic. Had everything, though if it was refereed today it would have been abandoned

Yes, the ref bottled it. He should have sent Lampard and di Canio off for fighting over the ball! :)

He played a few games the season before, but that was his first full season.
Carrick was on the bench that day, Rio & Frank played, and like most fans at some point you always wonder what might have been :(

Under current interpretation you'd have been down to 7 players by then :)

I miss a fair few due to my wife's work and I have to look after the little one (who doesn't deserve to suffer City yet) but the season ticket is still worthwhile and I used ifollow quite a bit last year too to watch the games I missed at home. Probably wont do that this time tho. I usually enjoy going to the games, but I'm never going to prioritize it over my family

Remember the classic 5-4 defeat to the Hammers like it was yesterday. It was during my university days and couldn't make many away games back then - not that I make many now! - so listened on the radio. I was bouncing around my student pad when we looked on course for the victory only to end up thoroughly deflated and annoyed at full time. I was a right moody get for the rest of the weekend - thanks for that West Ham!

Back to the original question. As a season ticket holder for the last 27 years I have gone from religiously attending every home game to missing plenty.

As a proud father of two boys - 4 and 2 - working full time and being generally scared of the other half I put my family first - I would probably be decaying under the patio by now if I didn't! Basically I get to around 8 - 10 games a season. Would love to get to more but there are genuinely more important moments to share with my family right now. I do however look forward to the day when my boys and I start making regular trips to Valley Parade.
