I heard that as well. i remember thinking we've got a minutes silence inside the ground and outside sounds like a stage of the world rally championships.

If it's not that much of a big deal to you that some idiot disrespects a minutes silence to 54 of our own supporters and 2 Lincoln supporters I suggest you should carry on riding your bike on weekends instead of going to watch City.

Superb respect shown by the traveling Walsall support.Hats off to everyone of them and congratulations on keeping their League One status.
Even clapped along with the home support on 56 minutes.
Credit to their club and much appreciated.

As usual it was a moving memorial one idiot didn’t ruin it just showed him to be what he is an idiot.
I thought the applause was a great thing as well

The funny part is, the minute’s applause actually starts in the 57th minute. Some seem to think that we need to stand and clap once the clock shows 56mins, but that simply means we are in the 57th minute, not the 56th

It sounded to come from the back of the Upper Sunwin, no respect, and although most joined in the 56 minute applause was it required we paid our repects before the game.

Most fans in our area turn round and looked up into the seats at the back of the Upper Sumwin but yes it did sound aplifide as if it could have been shouted as the doors opened, maybe there shoud have been someone on the doors stopping fans entering until the minutes silence was finished.

How anybody can find something to be funny during a poignant minutes silence for 54 of our own, and 2 Lincoln fans, is beyond me. Very poor Abbomf

Surely someone knew who it was who shouted out. Why didn't they do anything about it?

I don't think a symbolic round of applause can be faulted due to the symbolism of the number 56 being on the scoreboard.

I didn’t fault it and I did join in. I just don’t understand why we do it in the 57th minute and not the minute earlier.

    I've tried
I've tried to find logic, on both sides, BB. The answer (I think) is that to 'high light' minutes played - 56, is more symbolic than the 55 on the clock ? :)

Perhaps a more accurate means would be to applaud at the time when the fire actually broke out ?
Yet I for one would hate that. :( It's both contentious, and hurtful, as a reminder.

56 (or 57) minutes will do most of us just fine. Neither, more than the other will stem our pain or sorrow.

Felt the way that the Walsall fans behaved both before the match during the silence, and then the clapping appreciation on the 56th minute, was exceptional.

    Credit where credit is due.

Enjoyed my visit there this season, given that we are going to be in the same division next season, then looking forward to going, and the 'Phoenix nights' beforehand!

To be fair @Bigrod@Bigrod it has become the norm for the away support, I can't remember any away fans not respecting the minutes silence, but not sure about the clapping on the 56th minute although like you say they also joined in.
