    So lets get this straight...

Barnsley wanted to sign Miller but Boro had no recall clause (he could only go back if City and Boro agreed). We agreed to this on the proviso that Barsley loan him to us for the rest of the season. So we cancel his loan deal, Barnsley buy him for £200k and then loan him to us for the rest of the season. Complicated.

Wonder if Barnsley are paying/contributing to his wages as well for the rest of the season? If so thats good business on our part.

I imagine we’re paying/contributing the same figure, but Barnsley are now paying the remaining figure - as I imagine, Miller has received a decent pay-rise too.

Plus, if City are still skint they can ask Barnsley to loan him to us next season to continue his development, especially if they are promoted to the championship.

That's what has confused me slightly. I think Barnsley will get promoted this season which will leave Miller in a very similar position to what he was in at the start of this season. Stuck at a Championship club when he still needs more experience and development to become a Championship player.

I like George, despite his obvious flaws at 21 years old. Good that he stays here I say.

Not good enough. Barnsley are welcome to him.

Strange situation for Miller. He says he will give his best for us till end of season and I'm sure he will but he must feel like he should be playing for the club who just paid a sizeable fee for him.Sure he'd rather be involved in a promotion team.

He should have thought of that before signing a season long loan with us then

Well I doubt that, he seems a sensible lad to me.BTW he had to agree to this arrangement or the deal would not have gone through. What he is experiencing now is character building and will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career.

I think if Barnsley get promoted and we stay up he will probably stay here on loan for another season. No way is he ready for the championship.

I think with another few games with us he'll revert back to the task in hand with us.I don't think this happens that often but you can't help but think his mind will be distracted, whether that will affect his performances with us remains to be seen.

If Barnsley get promoted then they may do same as Middlesboro and leave him on loan but although he's not championship standard he is playing with league one players and may develop quicker with Barnsley?

Good point, but I think he won’t get this kind of experience anywhere else atm. So I still think his quality development can happen later. I don’t think he will stay with us next season but who knows.

I just dont see the potential in him that Barnsley obviously do.

He is a hardworking player who would seemingly run all day for you. But other than that,I have always struggled to see any other good atributes.

Currently deemed not good enough to start for a struggling league 1 club, he is a million miles away from looking like a Championship striker.

    Strange buy for Barnsley

Still don’t get why we didn’t go for a winger instead of constructing the deal with Boro/Barnsley. He isn’t starting games so why not get a winger instead and free Ball to play further forward/just behind Doyle.

Or failing that, signing a centre forward to give us extra options up top. As it stands, we have 6 loans and only 5 places. Bizarre

I imagine it was down to who was available at a price we could afford. Hopefully Ball will become one of ours soon resolving the 6 loans issue.

Isn't it obvious though they've signed him for their future, which they think (and I agree) will be The Championship.

    Otherwise they'd had kept him

They see something more than we have, as I must admit - I don't see him making it at a higher level.

But I did say the same with McBurnie and been delighted to have been proven wrong!!

It shows again the how crucial good coaching is - those players with a smidgen of talent can be Championship or L2, depending on them who gets their hands on us

We've seen it ourselves, First third of the season - which of course includes the non-event of a pre-season and poor coaching 10 points. Second third, once Hopkin's managed to get his idea's across - 21 points

They weren't available. The Pulse in fairness went into quite a lot of detail - I think we had four CF's lined up and none came to fruition

I can't think of single forward, that would have fit the 'big lump' type we needed , who went to any of our rivals. They simply were not available. Very low activity in The Premiership, means likewise lower down.

I always fail to understand why fans don't realise that we have targets but they are never guaranteed to come in

As for a winger - we've got enough creative players and with Scannell coming back I don't think we need one. We've taken 21 points from 13 matches and scored more than twice in more than half of them. Right now there is no need for wing play, just the option - which I admit we sometimes need, but not at the expense of another wage

But if that was realistically an option (I know Hopkin said they are trying), wouldn’t we have tried to get the deal done in January? I’m not sure Ball will sign
