    Tuesday night
    Exeter v Oldham-251 miles
    Salford v Plymouth 288 miles
Exeter and Plymouth are 43 miles apart
Salford and Oldham are 17 miles apart
Do the EFL really not see that localish fixtures could be played midweek,or do they just not care?

it is a financial decision to play the longer distance games midweek.

the further away the less people will go what ever day, so the reduction between midweek and weekend is less than a local game

I would imagine logistically ensuring midweek matches are local is nigh on impossible when you are also having to take into account all the other factors (Not to mention the police often aren't that happy about midweek local matches as they are more prone to trouble, they would rather them be 3pm on Saturdays)

They might be taking policing into account. I would guess it's easier to organise the overtime to police derby games on a Saturday.

More people go to local games on a weekend, thus the clubs prefer it that way as the income is better
