If he is as tough as his Dad, that will be a plus. We will have to see if he slots into a good scoring pattern.

Nice to know we are the ones doing the shithousing for a change. Wasn't this almost the exact same scenario with ourselves & Gillingham over Jonny Williams?

I like this signing, he'll never fill Cook's boots but nobody would. Hope MM hits the ground running and becomes an instant success

Now let's sign another proven striker on a permanent

If he does well then we will be wage chasing and we won’t be able to compete with the big spenders, that’s why a Perm NOW would be far more advantageos to the club.

Shitter service if he’s playing for a bottom side.

    welcome young man
You have 5 months to prove your stint at Morecambe was not a flash in the pan.
Get our there and bag those goals that hopefully help fire us up the table.
Get VP rocking and you really will witness an atmosphere.

It obviously remains to be seen if they are any good but just looking at their track records, Mellon, Lapslie and Leigh (if we sign him) are the calibre of singings we should have been making in the summer as opposed to the Baldwins and Sanderson’s of this world. Let’s hope they can hit the ground running.

Cook has definitely had to create a lot of his own goals due to the way we play.
Nothing in football is an exact science but the scoring charts don’t tend to lie
At the moment all the top scorers with a double figure amount of goals are from the top half of the division.

You’ll always get the odd exception (Smith at Swindon has 9 and they are 3rd bottom) but if you are scoring a few goals for a team in the bottom half you are generally having to do a lot of the leg work yourself.

Absolutely, the times we bemoaned a lack of service to him!

Who is Leigh that keeps getting mentioned?

surely not Greg Leigh, who has been playing for Oxford regularly? He’d be a great capture if its him?!

There are valid reasons for that, injury then good players in situ in a team going very well.
He is a good signing based on his previous at this level.

How many goals did Mellon score at Morecambe?

How many goals did Jake Young score at Swindon?

Interestingly different decisions by the club hierarchy on those two individuals and I'm sure some folk will have their slant on things...

    Contact with a Stockport supporter.

No-one has! He's mostly been injured whilst he's been with us. Despite him coming from that lot in darkest East Lancs, I think there was a lot of optimism about him when he arrived but he's not really been fit most of the time he's been with us. Mind you, sympathy started to become limited when he got a whack that put him out for weeks as a result of wearing kids shin pads! Probably as a result of pretty much always coming off the bench and not getting a run, he never looked the part on the rare occasions when he did make it on.
General feeling at our end of things is that it's just not worked for us, him or Burnley and that it's best for everyone that he goes somewhere else but with no hard feelings from us - best of luck!

    I like this signing.
In no way is it a positive, but the injury of Cook must have been a sway for both club and player. This signing is a small positive out of a terrible situation.

We have a very strong midfield behind him. Happy we were able to pip two clubs above us in the table. Good work from those working behind the scenes.

As other post, expect Smith to move on but Oliver stay and personally I’m ok with that.

Looking forward to seeing Mellon in a city shirt

No, it's a show of intent to sign someone who has ACTUALLY scored a few goals and at this level and not some wet behind the ears loanee who's likely to shit himself when confronted with league 2 centre halfs and sizeable crowds at VP.
