Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City, spotted x3 Grismby fans outside, both me and gf had England shirts on so they will have had no idea why we are both starring at them lol.

The A-League is not in a good place right now - being a static league with no promotion/relegation and only 11 teams. Of course it doesn't help that Melbourne City have done their best to be Manchester-lite and burnt a lot of bridges with fans.

For those wondering, that's a 30,000-seat stadium (AAMI Park) - which is the only rectangular stadium in Melbourne. That ground is shared with Melbourne Storm (NRL) and Rebels (Super Rugby).

Football has gone backwards in Australia since the old National Soccer League was abolished. Standard has declined, the crowds are declining and proof of this is the current state of the Australian national team. The junior NPL system is flawed, with ridiculous registration fees for junior players totalling thousands of dollars. Which means that those talented players without parents able or willing to pay the exorbitant fees don't get access to the same training facilities, training methods etc as these academy kids. I grew up in a lower socio-economic suburb of Melbourne, which produced Mark Viduka, Kevin Muscat, Jason Culina and Danny Tiatto, however feel that things may have been different for the afformentioned had we played in the current system.
