It's just a brisbanebantam wind up, quoting John Hendrie was a better "midfield" player than McCall although at Bradford City Hendrie was an out and out right winger, saying Waddle was the best he'd seen at City basing that on 26 games for us, I'd say the most talented was Beni Carbone at least he played 42 games for City.

And he was still the best midfielder on the pitch. Plus Gazza still had a lot to do and you won't find anyone speak more of McCall than Gazza.

In a 20+ game spell, during a period when McCall didn't play for the club. Take into consideration the time he had away from the club at Everton and Rangers (11years) and was still a very good player in his mid thirties, giving a good account of himself even in the Premier League. At his peak Chrissy Waddle was a very good player (at Newcastle and Spurs). I would argue that in his time at Valley Parade Peter Beagrie had more of an impact.

BRE wasn't even a very good clogger. Did you see how easily be was brushed aside by Danny Rose when he scored against us for Oldham?

Waddle couldn't tackle a liquidised fish supper. He could have been an all time England great if he hadn't been so damn lazy.
And he didn't play on the wing for long before being converted to a second striker either.

Couldn't agree more. Waddle made one significant contribution to BCFC and that was the result/ goal at Everton.

A guy called Lyons................ hardly the way to describe a stalwart of 1970's football like Mike Lyons was !! Near on 400 top flight appearances for Everton ! Hang your head man.

I thought it was a poor example but hardly a suprise I notice there was no mention with regards the ball in from McCall that won Scotland a penalty which McAllister missed.

A little harsh mate, when ever he got the ball we all wondered if he'd another trick in his pocket to make an opposition player look dumb.
Sheffield Wednesday didn't mess about with Waddle in the FA Cup 5th round kicking lumps ouf of him.

Individual talent is one thing, like Beni, but it rarely drives the whole team on. Graft (like Stuart) is what influences a team most. I loved the idea that Waddle was at our club, but give me Gary Jones any day of the week.

I agree with regards who offered more I would say the likes of McCall & Garry Jones did, with the little magician and Waddle up to a point you never knew what was coming I sure their fellow team mates didn't, oh for a driving forse like Stuart or Garry J in our present team.

Yeah but who was in goal? An overweight past his best Southall. Then he signed for us 5 years later to embarrass himself on live tv

A fantastic goal made even better because Waddle had told Southall pre-match if he left his line which he often did , given the chance he'd chip him as he did, a great effort from Waddle, your a hard man to please if you have to use Southall's condition to diss Waddles goal, we don't see many like that from Bradford City players lets remember the day, and what a great felling it was to have turn Everton over at Goodison Park.

I had a fiver on us to win 3-1 that day, I was counting my winnings before Gary Speed scored Everton’s 2nd goal, fortunately also had a fiver on just for a win, softened the blow a bit but not much. Sat on bus after the game I remember the Everton fans being anything but happy, one comment stuck with me was’ what is a player like Waddle doing playing for a team like Bradford, bitter blues
