I hope its Longridge instead of Wood, but if they were moving wood on you'd think they'd want to get someone secured for longer than the end of the season?
He only signed for them 14th October 2020 though, I'm not sure what's happened in Italy with Covid and tier 3 football, or how many matches there's been since 14th October.

Agree that if you compare him to the likes of Meredith he’s not in that league. However as @Fools Gold@Fools Gold says, he’s solid both defensively and going forward. In a stronger team I think you see more from him and at a young age, he’s one I’d like to see stay and focus investing in newness in other areas of the pitch.

Yes but unless there is an offer of a decent amount of money even if you lose him in the summer it doesn't make sense when your options are Longridge and now Foulds. You would need someone better than those 2 as a starter

Its the classic 6 month left of contract scenario. Wood will know through his agent of any interest from elsewhere, particularly in league one. I suspect anyone interested will look to make a low specualtive offer on the basis he is available for nothing in the summer. I like Wood and would like him to stay but not one of this team is irreplaceable. The signing of Foulds could be anything, but as it stands he has everything to prove, something Wood has already done and yet both at a simlar age.

He can also play left sided central defender

Taking into account Jackson Longridge as spent most of his time sat on our bench, would I be right in assuming Foulds will replace him in th
I know that but come on we already have enough central defenders on the books what about the other bench warmer Tyler French?

Not sure about Canavan but other than him we are short on left sided central defenders

This signing won't make sense to me untill someone playing defensively at left back ships out.
We need a left winger and here we go again a bloody experienced striker to help Novak, not some kid who as potential.
    Priority area's not defence.

It sounds like his main position is centre back but he can play left back.

I can't see this lad being signed as a replacemnt for Woods.
First off is his experience (or the lack of). He's virtually a vigin to league football.
Secondly, we've only signed him to the end of the season which points to us wanting to see if he can show any promise and if doesn't come up to standard it's bye bye come the end of the season. A low risk punt on someone who has potential but yet to realise it in the senior game.
I suspect T&S have little faith in Longridge as back up if Woods gets injured. And this looks like a good option as back up. Plus the lad could slot in at CB if needed.
Whats positive from the T&A report is that this is someone we've signed very much as placing the onous on the lad to prove himself rather than he's a significant peice of the jigsaw

I’d say more longridge? Or hope it is. Probably back up to Scotland

Which is poor given we clearly have money in the budget given our signings so far. Get Wood tied down even for a further 12 months and we can demand a fee if he wants to go i nthe summer then?

Would he take just a 12 month contract though? And, barring an unlikely late tilt at the play-offs (though it's not impossible), how much is he going to want to stay and what percentage of the league 2 salary cap would we want to be shelling out on a left back?

Maybe not but he will find a club in the summer quite clearly if he leaves us.
I’m not suggesting give him a lot of money, we know we hold the cards with it as everyone under a salary cap in the leagues he would realistically go. But it’s a bit of a specialist position full back. Look how difficult we have found signing a good right back since Caddis went. Still flapping about now really.
Seems a good fit to keep wood to me

A much better crosser than Meredith and a sweeter left foot for taking corners and free kicks. Defending wise not that much in it - at time though Meredith was left with no cover in front of him which did not help him defensively.

Notice that there isn't a squad number on his shirt hung up in the dressing room. Hasn't there been an announcement of squad number on all the other signings so far this window? Does that mean he is going to be taking the number of a player yet to depart?

Thats is your opinion - but Meredith was playing in an improving team with better players - Wood the opposite. I am not saying Wood is better but in a poor team has provided more offensively than Meredith did.

Foulds is a possible one for the future as he's only
signed till end of season. If he doesn't shape up he
will be on his way at end of season. Maybe T & S
feel they can spot talent and develop them as that's
what they were doing in under 23's. We could find
some young talent and create a good team ethic.
