Matt Glennon

Did anyone else hear the BBC West Yorkshire Sport episode on Wednesday night? There were a number of guests in there including Josh Wright on being made captain and Kelvin Mellor on how difficult it has been to stay fit this pre-season.

In addition, Matt Glennon was on the show talking about ‘Mikey’ Collins. He said he had no idea that he would become a coach. Some players you can just tell, but not with Mikey. He said a couple of times that he was shocked. However, he did say he was competitive and added bite to the midfield and he would expect his players to show the same determination.

What did make me laugh was his comment about former managers. He said that if Mikey was to take a little bit from all the bosses he has worked under and NOTHING from others, he’ll learn a great deal. Was he referring to his own time under Peter Taylor, as he had earlier said he’d worked under a number of coaches, one even managed England and some were unpleasant people and not very good coaches either.

Anyone else hear this?

 

Yeah, he did seem to go off on a tangent a little when talking about it. But if I recall correctly, he referred to Flynn as Micky and Collins as Mikey.

And in relation to Micky Flynn, he said they all thought he would never be into coaching/management. With Mikey Collins, he was shocked when he read he had become Head Coach at City. Then right at the end of his response, he mentioned again that he was shocked.

As you say though, it was confusing because he brought Flynn into his response so he could have been taking about either.
