Funny how the council will look to do this yet blatantly allow double parking, parking on double yellow lines and disgraceful parking on every path in the area on Thornbury Road when it’s mosque time!

Sorry for the delay, Storck but I'm at my place in Spain for a break and am a bit behind. Yes, I have been dealing with this for the last YEAR!
Originally the parking proposal was draconian, preventing parking in a lot of areas/streets around VP on match days and what they called Event Days.
The Council had not realised Event Days such as Speed Awareness courses, Weddings, Corporate conferences, etc,etc would also be affected preventing our hospitality people operating as a business and becoming unable to pay us rent. When this was pointed out as everyday business the Council dropped back to match days only. After more discussion (summarised to save you being bored) we got to a position where much was regularised AND the Council agreed to delete double yellow lines on Midland Rd. From the bottom of Holy Well Ash towards Town. A good result for us with more on street parking. Then about 3 weeks ago I got the drawing which was to be approved and saw, without warning the yellow lines on Midland Rd. had not been removed. The Council have refused to say why and I believe have overruled our objection. We are no worse off but the time taken and change of mind is irritating.
This new arrangement was to take effect for the start of this season but I have said with the delay it should be in place for the start of next. The only physical changes will be a clearer signage and provision of some blue badge spaces but a safeguarding of our ability to actually operate the whole stadium all week which was under big threat. Hope that helps.

In England and Wales, local councils can make an order prohibiting parking on the pavement. If this is the case, then there will be signs/markings that clearly point out on a particular road where parking on the pavement is specifically prohibited. The penalty for contravening this will be a fixed penalty notice. If not specifically prohibited, parking a vehicle on the pavement could lead to an offence of obstruction being committed. This could result in a fixed penalty notice being issued to offending vehicles. This is because parking on the pavement can obstruct pedestrians and wheelchair users forcing them to use the road to pass a parked vehicle. Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines apply to the road, pavements and verges. Therefore, it is still against the law to park on the pavement/verge by the side of yellow lines. It should also be noted that unless you are accessing your property via lowered kerb driveway, it is an offence to drive on the pavement. The above provisions apply even if you only have one or two wheels on the pavement and they also apply to motorcycles.

I think you'll find parking on a pavement is not an offence.

It's interesting that the council are quoted in the article as saying supporters are parking indiscriminately. Seems to me you are either parked legally at the side of the road or your not. If you're not surely the council have every enforcement power they need already. I can understand making a safe zone round the stadium on match days with crowd congestion etc. but to blame the changes on indiscriminate parking is a bit rich in a city that seems to embrace creative parking cultures.

Any time on Duckworth Lane and Toller Lane is mosque time judging by the state of parking on these roads.

Worked opposite Myrah Shay today in that estate off Barkerend road, cars parked on grass verge's and on pavements. It was hundred cars at least. But no sign of wardens. Yet on a Friday around valley parade people are allowed to park where there want when going to mosque.

The annoying thing is that it is not supporters parking indiscriminately it is "others" who will still do it and be ignored by the parking attendants as usual, Mind you it will enable the VW golfs and BMWs more room to speed round the streets at will with no fear of apprehension

Unfortunately these laws were probably set up before we had two cars per household. The area i live with views of the aire valley parking was never a problem. But nowadays you have to park on pavements because of the number of cars and bloody deliveries.
Sorry not football but I am going to mow the lawns then have a nice Gin.

The Gov't has initiated plans to make this an instant £70 penalty charge. However, the UK local Councils are free to designate specific 'areas' where they can, and will enforce this (I'm led to believe), by April 2020.

So ive just replied to a Councillor on twitter who says parking is going to be for an hour so businesses can benefit.
I asked that whilst the enforcers are out catching fans, will they also pull up and ticket all other illegally parked cars.
Which gave me an idea, we could photograph other illegally parked cars, non supporters (it wont be hard to spot), to aid and gather evidence for those city fans who have been ticketed

Perhaps looking at Health and Safety they could/should close Manningham Lane from 4.45-5.00 on Saturday home games and 9.30 - 9.45 for an evening match! ;)
