Off field investment is key to building a well run sustainable business, it’s not all about our budget although there’s no evidence we have a top 5 playing budget as it started mid table, then top 7, then top 5 so it’s hard to believe when the goal posts move.

Until we start being top of the pile at this level for investment in scouting, sport science and coaching we’ll be constantly shutting our eyes and hoping for promotion rather than being best equipped to achieve it. For every Morecambe that does promotion on the cheap, there’s a Rotherham who blow the competition out of the water on and off field and that can lead to the dream double promotion, if done on the cheap as we’re seeing with Morecambe you’re more likely to be fighting relegation.

As we all know, there are too many under achievers in this squad, not really their fault as they have limited ability.

He is rich enough to buy the club out of jointly own the club with Rupp. Or he might want to invest with as yet unknown invested. I mentioned something similar on Friday can’t remember which thread it was. He said something else in one of the interviews, it is a city and has a really good catchment area, now that is business talk! He is obviously very interested in the fans misses the excitement etc.

 

I don't see Hughes being wealthy enough that he'd be wanting to buy the club. He's far less wealthy than Rupp. But he has some great contacts....so as you say, I can see him being party to something

 

Looks like we went for Grant McCann but he turned us down. Sparks needs to learn there are more contacts in football than just DMac, am example of why it’s important to have a football man at the club with a lot of contacts. 7 minutes on link below

I’m not sure tbh, nor am I overly bothered he’s decent enough but not perfect and could easily fail just as succeed.

That said I find it worry that Sparks seems to always turn to DMac like at the end of the summer transfer window. Peterborough are a small club we need some better contacts, it’s no wonder we don’t succeed. Hopefully Sparky will provide them.
