Agree 100%, that if we'd won with players out of position and using that formation, it would very definitely have papered over the cracks. However, I'm not convinced the changes yesterday were as a direct result of any deep contemplation by Stuart, but more so that his hand was somewhat forced. As I said in a previous post, sometimes injuries can be a blessing in disguise

 

Central defence continues to be a worry for me. In each of our games, we have looked nervous defending set pieces, and as with Andy Cook at Mansfield, we see far too many free headers for the opposition

 

As much as anything I think it's because we've never had the same two playing together for more than one match! It takes time to get used to each other and we don't have a partnership there yet.

 

Not won away for over a year

 

It's hard to see Stuart being able to bring in another forward without either Guthrie or Donaldson leaving.

Neither are good enough based on current evidence, but both are senior players who could upset the harmony of the dressing room I would imagine.

Sadly, the chances of offloading either are EXTREMELY slim.

 

The problem is that the "fat" currently makes up a decent percentage of the first team.

 

His problem has come from two years of poor recruitment, leaving us still with square pegs and round holes. Hopefully we can find a formation that allows squad members a chance to play in something like their best positions.

Surely a win here. Draw minimum, but I'd be disappointed to come away with only a point.

We need a reaction to what was a morale-deflating defeat against Harrogate.

I still think we're being a little bit hysterical after the cup defeat to a significantly better side (who cares?), but that doesn't change people's overall sentiment of disappointment.

Let's get the win.

Yes unless it's a 2/3-0 win nothing less or the McCall out brigade will be flooding the forum.

No sure why fans are expecting any sort of good result at Mansfield, during the transfer window we were told Mansfield were going for it with their great signings, where as we bought little quality, why should we expect anything but a defeat.

 

I often wonder if teams change their formation to counter us.......they’d have to be a bloody mind reader if that’s the case..

Its lacking quality in several areas. But at least its balanced in the sense of being a system where everyone is in their position.

I cant say I'm confident, but let's see.
