Even though he was our best player on the night. I don’t think we should get hung up on saying we must stick with this formation after a win. We bear Bolton and Stevenage playing differently and should have beaten Forest green. We have good wing backs and midfielders to suit. It’s about getting performances out of players in whatever formation

Ok, apologies but I didn't see you write specifically about the left side.

 

Today we found a system that works for the players we have. A good manager would have decided on a system and then recruited players to play it. Unfortunately, we recruited the players and then tried to find a system. That inevitably means there are gaps. We looked good today and should stick with the system but you can bet your bottom dollar with Stuart we won't. That's what is so frustrating about him. He never seems to see the obvious. But fair play to him, today he did. We'll see how he goes on Tuesday.

 

The problem I see is they played well today but haven't shown to maintain that level of performance YET, they may do though. Let's hope so. At least in the right sided role we have Evans or Hosanah perhaps as well as Dylan. If we focus on our strengths we will be a much better team.

 

Not quite. They are fluid and interchangeable. How they appear on the graphic at the start of the game isn’t how they play in reality

 

We all come to a fixture having a team in our minds that WE would play. The problem is that non of us know if there are players with knocks or illness or simple tiredness. Stuart does.

Good point mate. Yes we had one or two players out of position but we are not giving Harrogate enough credit, yes they are a small town club but so are Burnley.
Harrogate Town are a well drilled side and the bulk of that team together for some time, and it showed.

 

Agree with this but I don't think we will come up against many defences as benevolent as the one we met yesterday.

 

Who was out of position except possibly Evans who has played in all midfield positions before

 

I don't think it was lack of effort that was the problem on Monday night.

 

I think most believe they know why, we knew Zeli was out we can only assume DMH was not fit as he couldnt make the bench so up to a point Stuart was limited with regards wide men.
The annoying part was he had chance to change the formation at half time when Evan's was subbed complaining of a tight hamstring, he could see we were second best in every position.
Hopefully yesterdays result and performance will set us up for the Walsall game and a positive result, we then welcome Michael Flynn and his Newport lads tough game but at home it should be winnable at 5pm we could be in the dizzy heights of a play off place.

 

Sutton plays there all the time and he was close to being mom in the previous game. I knew that Harrogate would be really up for that game it was their first big game for them in front of the cameras and their work rate particularly without the ball was probably the highest I have seen for a long time. They closed us down everywhere and no matter what formation we played I believe we would have lost that match.

 

Well even if it was wrong system,poor overall tactics,
players playing out of position,changes to previous
game,they can still show effort and that was missing.

Would they of tried harder if the fans had been there
or would Harrogate of tried even harder?

 

You could argue that out of all our players,Sutton showed
more energy but "headless chicken" came to mind.He
was like a kid at school in the playground running around
with a ball at his feet trying to beat everyone and predictably
over running the ball or just losing possession.I don't think
he knew what he was going to do with the ball,he seemed
oblivious to our other players.

 

I'm bias (yes I'll admit it) but as bad as Monday night was it might have given Stuart food for thought, this was my post after the game, and it would have be a travesty to have got anything from the game .
